Oh, Pablo...
I found this short film to be fascinating. Also, I think we should talk about how dating someone who is differently abled should be more common. Teh gheyz can be dicks sometimes…
We should know better.

That's the title of one of my favourite songs. The most lethal, the most essential thing is to hear your own voice. Also, keeping up with the idea of writing as catharsis, this one blog is dedicated all to myself. More solipsism would be hard to find. And I like it like that. Oh, and this is a queer (and self-proclaimed 'ADULT') blog so go ahead, make your day... mine is done.
I think may of us, straight and gay, like to dissect people into pieces and if we don't like one piece, ot two pieces, we move on., We need to look at the whole person because they are more than just deafness or blindness or whatever.

Correct.
DeleteAnd I see it as a mistake, because then our biases kick in and then we miss out on a fantastic man. I have never dated a person abled differently but I have dated people who had difficulty hearing and seeing.
The relationships worked just fine.
I know somebody (who is able) who has been with a Deaf partner for twenty years, so there's that.

It's a lazy attitude, but I understand that there are few who have the time and desire to go beyond appearances.
DeleteIt's not so much about dealing with disabilities as it is dealing with a personal as a whole. See what I did there?
ReplyDeleteHeh.
DeleteOh, Dave....

Big says,
ReplyDeleteThat has to be the sweetest, saddest thing I've seen in the longest time. The depiction of Pablo is three-dimensional and accurate - the disabled can sometimes be so defensive they push others away.
XOXO
Wasn't it?
DeleteIt's not new, but I just found it. So adorable. And you are right, it kind of begs to be made a full movie...
XOXO
Rejection sucks... every time. And it's hard not to take it personal... when their rejecting you as a person. A disability. While society continues to make it difficult to have a disability... having a disability is not difficult to have... especially when born with it. I colors and informs the way you view the world... that's all. It isn't a limitation - until other people make it one.
ReplyDeleteOf course it sucks.
DeleteIt's kind of part of living, though. Not everybody is gonna like us. but when it is a disability it is OTHERS who make it an issue.

I loved it. I often love these shorts more than a full one movie. The shorts I find pack a hell of a message and a punch. When these two looked at each other and kissed? They had better chemistry then well known actors!!! The kiss gave me chills.
ReplyDeleteSame!
DeleteI think short films (and short stories and novellas) are successful when they leave us wanting 'more'. Also, that intensity!!
