Oh, Mark...

This house is delicious. I like everything about it. Oh yes, I do.

Also, this is how I think you should do color: when there's enough light to make it pop and it serves as a backdrop for some good design. I would not put my artwork on the floor (I see you, Big!) but the rest? Gimme.

Finding the 'right' size home is difficult. I think this would be enough for me (I would need a house for one or two people, tops). I would be absolutely happy in a bungalow just like this one. Especially with that backyard, that pool/pond and that landscaping. Yes, please.

XOXO

  1. I love this and agree about the art on the floor; it looks like they're still moving in. But I love that it's not huge, but not small. I love the color in the bedroom because it glows. The living room color has me confuzzled because, while I love a dark moody tone, the room, even with all that glass seems dark. Maybe at other times of day they get more sun? And the gardens and the pool? Me want it all ... and wonder if the cats are included?

    1. That is very Instagram, the art on the floor.
I find it silly and would never do it. I love the colors here. That bedroom was a mood. And the living room to me is actually quite sexy...
      And the cats!

I agree, this house it fantastic! I like the colors and with the LA climate, the outdoors is another room. I really like the coral color in the bedroom.

And yes, display the artwork! One of these days the cat will get frisky and knock them down.

    1. I know!
I'm absolutely jealous with any California house.

  4. I like the colors! I hate the boxiness. It looks too much like they too a condo from the 17th floor of a tall building, cut it out, and dropped it on a lot in LA with a garden in the back.

    1. It's not too boxy. Modern? Yes. Mid-century inspired? Probably.
I think it's more open and less boxy than houses built in the thirties and forties, with their tiny, chopped up interiors.

  5. Big says,
Very nice. Except the darkness of that living room area - too cave like. And, yes, he should be spanked - HARD - for the art sitting on the floor. LOL. Love the courtyard / foyer concept. The pool is gorgeous. Though, I hope he's got a couple pool boys (Maybe Maddie would loan out his houseboys). Knowing what it takes to scoop debris from my own pool, that one with so much landscaping is going to be a daily nightmare. XOXO

With those windows? Fab. The foyer/courtyard? Heaven.
And I think the plants are indigenous and tending toward tall grasses, so there's not a ton of debris...

  6. Are you on a house kick???

I too love this!!!! Now mind you, Im not modern but if I had to have a modern house this is how I would do it. I love all the windows. A lot of people hate windows to open...but I love it. Anything to bring the outdoors in. Plus if I walk around naked the neighbors get a show! Believe it or not in my last pied de terre...I did have some artwork leaning on the wall with my huge floor standing mirror. I love the look of that...and all my places have had gallery walls with art and mirrors mixed together in collages...some even on the floor leaning and leading into a collage.

    Go ahead....spank my ass!

    1. Oh, you know I love my house porn.
I think the windows make this house. I love the idea of opening them to the outdoors. I actually like mirrors standing on the floor rather than hanging, btw.
And you should be spanked regularly, Mads.
You've got the ass for it.

  7. What a lovely movie set. I can't imagine - not for a moment - that anything approaching life as I live it happens on those grounds. Where are the tacky old queens? I want to see their houses. My one comment for the owners of this house? Needs more cats. - Kizzes.

    1. I actually find the house to be quite warm and inviting.
It's full of little corners and moments waiting to happen. And I just gave you tacky old Queens and you dismissed them Upton! LOL
