Oh, 40. Over...?

The button down/Chino combo is a mood, I'd say. But what do you think about what he has to say? I have always maintained that everybody should wear whatever the hell they want, no matter their age or gender. If it makes you happy, why the fuck not? He says his demo is guys over forty (most everybody who reads this blog, I think??) but I'm not really sure about that. I think some of these trends are really very 'trendy' and I don't see them lasting, but some are actually pretty cool and stylish (and I have incurred in some) but hey. It's fashion.

Full disclaimer: I kind of agree with some of the things he says here, but mostly, I don't. I'm more adventurous than he could ever be. But you already knew that.

So, what's your deal breaker here? As in 'Never!'? Go ahead, tell me... I won't tell a soul...

XOXO

  1. Big says,
I have to agree with everything he's said. Not necessarily from a fashion or age standpoint - well, okay, def from an age standpoint - but from a $$$ point. Trends cost lots of it. For what? To disappear and be thought ugly and / or foolish a year or so later. But, if you're young, have tons of money to throw around? Hey, go for it. XOXO

    1. I agree about the trends.
But some trends are reinventions of a classic, so there's that. I'm rocking wide-legged pants that I've had for YEARS. I've told my one friend that I don't believe in trends. I believe in being fab.

  2. No pajamas in public! Holy Shit, I see that daily when I'm at work, and mostly it's because theyse men don't care. I like the Stealth Wealth comment; that has always been true.

    1. LOL!!!!! I know those couples who wear those sweats and pajamas in public. I always say- Oh look, here comes Hon and Dump.

    2. The whole pajama thing baffles me.
I know someone who spent a ton in a Balenciaga ensamble that looks like... my auntie's pajamas. Really. Quiet Luxury is indeed a thing.
And Hon and Dump? LMAOOOOO oh, Mads...

    HuntleyBiGuy:
Chonky shoes? Oversized items? No and no especially those pants that are six inches too wide in the leg. I’m also not a fan (for me) of cropped items. But you know how conservatively I dress, no experimentation here. That’s why I needed your help in selecting a bow tie for my brother’s wedding.

    1. I have chunky shoes and oversized items!
You know how I love an XXL tshirt. And some influencers did take the wide leg thing to extremes... LOL
And I remember that bow tie. I also remember that fab Polo shirt you had that you wore to the club that one time...

  4. Crochet??? Oh hell no, honey, oh hell no.
Boxy and oversized??? Not THAT boxy and oversized.
If you have a good hot flat stomach, then crop top it. If not, then don't.
Those wackadoo chunky shoes? I cannot.
Pajamas in public is a capital offense.
Casual mixed with upscale? I can get behind that.
Painted fingernails? If you like it, paint it!
I love some Stealth Wealth as I refuse to wear clothes with labels unless the designer is paying me to do so.
But, at the end of the day, it's what you like, and what makes you comfortable. And if people don't like it, too bad!

  5. A bolero style suit jacket - if you have a waist... is very flattering. I adore them. But cropped pants... ugh. Clunky - NO. I have enough trouble walking upright, my dear. And crochet anything is really only okay as doilies in old lady homes. I like athletic wear as long as it is fitted and makes you look fit... but it is a must avoid if you have a gut or are not in shape. I really like this man's advice. I really like what he has to say. Thanks for sharing. Please share more of him. Very smart stuff.

    1. And yo know what? I never got into the bolero style suit jacket.
it was a no from the jump. But I love me some chunky shoes! I have several that are double stacked....
And you should follow him on youtube!

  6. I totally agree about the crochet stuff. Never holds up and stretches out terrible...save it for the hanging plant holders.

I like crops... but fitted ones. I can't stand the oversized big fitting ones. Chucky shoes?!?!? But in the day, I had tons of them, I wore them everywhere.... but now? Nope. I don't own any anymore, except for platform drag heels. I couldn't agree more with the athlete leisure. SOOOOOO over it. If you wear it to the gym, and everywhere else....I'd feel you're wearing the same thing all the time. It has its place, and the street, restaurants, and being out isn't it. Keep it in the gym.

I do agree with his final trend...I love the look of it, even though it's a bit too preppy...I would have to add a bit of a trend piece into it. I don't get into too many trends. I keep a closet of basics and classics, and tailored and fitted pieces, and then I will mix in a trend piece to be layered in somewhere.

Meanwhile, if daddy wanted to tap my ass or critique my underwear...I'd let him. All day.

    1. I agree.
Crochet needs to be handwashed and all that jazz. A lot of work.
I also had chunky shoes!! I still have some that I'm wearing, btw. And fuck athleisure. Ugh. Can't people dress for a change? Lululemon can be super expensive but that shit is ugly outside of a yoga class.

      And yes, daddy looks good!

      XOXO
