Piggybacking on Debra's post yesterday about being a Trans ally, I had to post this. I have known a lot of people who have undergone HRT and they are Cisgender people. But there's a lot of confusion and misconceptions that have been pathologized concerning HRT when it comes to Transgender people, because of course. Both Cismen and Ciswomen have used HRT to treat both cosmetic and health issues for years. But nobody talks about that, right? RIGHT??
Here's a quick and helpful primer about HRT and how it works with Transpeople. This helpful video also goes into some some explanations that are truly needed at this point. Especially when we talk about Puberty Blockers. Remember that there are 579 Bills in 42 states that are specifically targeting Trans people. The Bigots do not sleep, honey.

Our right-wing provincial government here in Alberta has now prohibited the use of puberty blockers for trans kids, the only province in Canada to have done so. It's such a cruel law and will cause so much unnecessary suffering for a generation of trans kids.

Politics and people... you think they would sit well together, but no. Politics (and the news media) has become all about optics and fearmongering. That's how they win elections and get ratings. That's how they get you to follow them on the instagram and the what-not. It's dumb. So they pick something that can be villainized and work it for all it's worth until they come up with something else. And it's all about money... fundraising and advertising dollars.
