Oh, you betta work?
International Drag Day “should be celebrated all year around”, they said, and is important for not only celebrating the “fabulous type of theatrical performance” but also to raise awareness “that there’s quite a lot of hate that exists when it comes to queer culture” – especially against drag artists and transgender people.
And so today we're celebrating International Drag Day here in the blog. It was officially yesterday, but who cares? I don't.
Enjoy!
XOXO
HuntleyBiGuy:
ReplyDeleteInternational Drag Day should happen once a month. The hardest working girls in entertainment!
XOXO 👨🏼❤️💋👨🏽
Let's make it a law!
DeleteAnd they do work hard. I remember the first Drag artist I met told me that she had not gone to bed before five in the morning in ten years.
XOXO
I understand that quite a few bar in Milwaukee that would never stage drag shows, are doing so now that the Republicans are in town.
ReplyDeleteBig says,
DeleteI love it!!!
Now, this is the allyship I'm talking about!!
DeleteXOXO
This is a little unfocused. And I disagree with the statement that drag queens have to talk to each other that way - it's not clever - it grates on my nerves. I like clever. I want more Noel Coward and less obnoxious hunty loudermouth. That said... yay, drag day! Thanks for sharing this. I adore Willem (when he bothers to show up for a gig) and Bianca is a total pro (I've actually made it through one of her movies!) and Alaska sure... puts out music. So... this has been fun. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteLMAO!!!! Willam is getting very bad with showing up. Not sur what is going on. She was slated with local queens here and was a no show. They were furious. And she is burning her bridges from queen left, right and center. Needless to say for the next upcoming one she was replaced with Lady Camden, who in my opinion puts on a much better show anyway.
DeleteIt's chaotic and I love it.
DeleteAnd I think their point is exactly that we don't have to boom the house down boots! all the time. It's their way to say that Drag lingo has been appropriated by the masses. And by masses I men fourteen year old girls.
Willem comes across as petulant and rude. Smart, but too convinced of her own value. Her owning a third of PEG probably went to her head and she thinks she's World of Wonder. Delusion is part of Drag, but she's just annoying. Her Drag is fantastic, though...
XOXO
Sooooo high-larious!
ReplyDeleteBianca: "Could'a, should'a, would'a." I died.
Happy Drag Day!!!
xoxo
Oh, you can always trust Bianca to bring the sarcasm.
DeleteHappy Drag Day!
XOXO
I laughed all the way through!
ReplyDeleteSame!
DeleteThe shade was on point!
XOXO
Big says,
ReplyDelete"....no talent and still be famous." LOL. Oh that's the Kardastrophes all right. LOL. Happy Drag day.
XOXO
Absolutely!
DeleteWell, we all know the Kartrashians are 'famous' because the mother leaked a tape of the daughter having sex with her bra on.
Happy Drag Day!
XOXO
Which is why I try to feature drag year around!!!!! I mean the time and money spent alone is insane. I just out last night seeing a drag show at a.....straight bar; gasp: Local queens and my good friend from New Hope Estee Lauderdale and friend from Rehoboth, Magnolia Applebottom. And it was PACKED!!!!!!! In a straight semi conservative area. They are hosting them all the time now.
ReplyDeleteDrag has been here and it isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Too many fellow drag sisters and kings!!!!!!!!!
Yes!
DeleteIt needs to be done. People really do NOT understand what Drag is. They think it's just choosing a song and standing on a stage. The craftsmanship of the attires, the wigs, the make up, the padding, the dance moves, the hosting an event, the stand up comedy, the dealing with the public, the creation of the playlists... I could go on, and I'm not even a Drag connoisseur!
The straight women love Drag. That I know. And they'll drag the husbands.
XOXO
