Oh, the smallest Pride....?

Ok, so Pride has been officially over for what, two months? But it's not OVER.

I decided to post this to remind you all that all those rights that people take for granted are in danger. If they follow Project 2025, SCOTUS is coming for Obergefell next.  Also, because Morgantown has a very special place in my heart: I went to WVU.

I had fab time there (in the one gay bar they have I learned the hard way that one, you should not have more than three Mountain Dew in succession and two, that strippers will give you lap dances for free if you’re nice to them). Morgantown is a little drop of blue in a sea of Rednecks. It's a college town, so you can have some diversity and escape to Pittsburgh when the small town environment gets to you.

It's a cute little town, though. And this video was necessary.

XOXO

P.S. here:

P.P.S. Happy after-Pride!

  1. Pride is always important, no matter where and no matter how small.

That's why I've been to Pride celebrations that are no more than a few tents in a park. For real.

  2. I love that, even though it's small, they still have it. Good on Morgantown LGBTQ+!

PS SC Pride Columbia is in September so we're coming up on our Pride!

Wow, this was so encouraging. Even though they still have a lot of struggles in the area, they were able to come together and celebrate who they are. It’s great that the town’s leadership is on board, now it has to flow (not trickle) down to the rest of the staff. And their movement continues to grow.

    1. Oh, you step seven feet out of the Morgantown area and it's Redneck territory all the way. Kind of scary.
But Morgantown being a college town is super liberal.

  4. The Supreme Court has been targeting Obergefell for some time now, it's the Alito way.

I told that to one person and they were like "really?" and I said REALLY.
      Some people do not learn.

  5. Though a few events are planned for September, the Pride Parade won't happen here until October. The Pride organization here is an oxymoron. Pride hasn't been well-executed in years. But, goddess love 'em, they try.
Everything is on the Demolition Table if the repugs take over.

    1. Well, but that's nice cause it'll be milder.
I went to Chicago Pride and Milwaukee Pride and it was kinda hot.
And the Repugs will fuck up EVERYTHING if they're left to get too close to the White House.

  6. Here's a fun fact. My mothers' whole side of the family and grandmother are all from Morgantown!!! I used to go down with my grandmother to visit her brothers and sister in the summers when I was young...they had acres of land, and all had homes built on the land like the Kennedy compound or something. They were all coal miners. My cousin Georgieanna had/has something to do with the Pride there but can't remember what. My grandmother's surname was Dvar. And there were several gays I recall. Maybe you slept with one??

    1. OMG Really!
And I totally believe that. Morgantown has a very rich history. And it's not surprising to learn they were coal miners: it was THE occupation to have at the turn of the century there.
And I would not rule out having bedded one of the Dvar gays, if they have what you have, I may have encounter one or four of them...

  7. I like the sound of your college days. I was stuck hiding in the closet until I almost suffocated. Different times. Okay... what happens if you drink more than three dews? Did you have a panic attack? The only way I would ever drink that stuff is if the side effects were like viagra. Kizzes.

    1. Oh, I was a little terror. No man was safe.
And Mountain Dew will make you super jittery if you're not used to it (and if you drink more than three in a row) and you'll feel clammy and a little dizzy. Do not recommend.

      Viagra gives me headaches, btw.
