Oh, Kayleigh, girl…. No.
Full disclaimer: until very recently, I had no idea who Chapell Roan was (that's apparently read like the building, not as in Dave Chappelle). If you are like me, and don't follow closely what the kids are doing, she's apparently a pop singer and is currently very famous. Hundreds of thousands congregated to hear her sing in Lollapalooza, according to sources.
I have not heard much of her music (or I have not paid attention). I think YouTube -that stalky ex-boyfriend who's always there when you turn your gaze- suggested her Tiny Desk Concert and I declined. There's something forced about her performative Queerness that turns me off: apparently she was invited to the Biden White House and she didn't go -allegedly- because they were not going to let her read a poem about Palestine. By now you have an idea where this is going.
Then she bothsided Kamala, made two videos about 'why' she said both sides have been 'bad' to Trans people (??), mispronounced Kamala's name, incurred in assorted fuckery and so I lost my shit. And apparently the internet lost its shit at the same time I did:
I love it when the internet does not mince words when people try to use the excuse of 'mental illness' to justify assorted fuckery:
I find that the level of entitlement, one-issue stubbornness and myopic handwringing going on with this last generation is alarming. This woman is not alone. There's hundreds of thousands of Gen-Z people who truly believe that what's happening in Palestine is worth fucking up the elections in the USA in November. For real.
They have the asinine shortsightedness of a newborn cow and the stubbornness of an old donkey. NOTHING gets through their skulls. And they use performative stunts to scream their immature grievances into the void. And then they complain.
I am showing my age here: I know people who have/had AIDS. I know what DADT did to gay people, I saw Gay Marriage become a reality. Have the Dems always been super Gay friendly? Nope. But it's the Dems who have brought the progress we have in LGBTQ lives right now. Not the Repugs. Not the Green Party. Not the Libertarians. The fucking Democrats did it, Kayleigh.
And for this girl to come out and say that both parties are the fucking SAME?
Well, fuck you Chapel Wrong. Fuck you and your ilk. May that Rolling Stone cover help you get over the internet dragging your privileged lily white ass for days. And no, I'm not still listening to your music. There's truly good artists out there that deserve a listen more than you ever will and more authentic allies making great music who are not as problematic as you are. Go count your money, honey. Maybe that will help you leave your racist, bigoted, homophobic family behind. And may this serve you as a lesson to never EVER bothside DonOld and the GQP with the Dems.
XOXO
I don't know her .... look at me, I'm Mariah!!! BUT ... I recently heard Kelly Clarkson and Miranda Lambert sing one of her songs and it was gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteNOW ... go after for this "both sides" fuckery all you want all over social media, but if you really really REALLY want to make yourself heard, stop buying her music or seeing her little shows.
Prove to her that BOTH SIDES are not the same.
xoxo
Babes, Kelly and Miranda could read a cookie recipe and it would be awesome. I can't with this woman's bothsiding. It's about taking the bus that leaves you closer to home, Kayleigh, not an Uber.
DeleteWith so much in stake for Queer people, being this ignorant is just unforgivable.
XOXO
I never understood what all the fuss was about her in the first place. She seemed unclear and confused to me. Thanks for this post, none of which I knew before. She truly is unclear and confused.
ReplyDeleteShe IS confused.
DeleteShe's a mass of soundbites and 'progressive' fuckery. They try to infantilize her saying that it's what the 'kids are doing nowadays' and she only comes across as an uninformed twat.
And when people call her bullshit and lack of clarity, she brings up mental illness.
No.
XOXO
HuntleyBiGuy:
ReplyDeleteYou have this POS with her both sides bullshit and her followers will nod in agreement and vote against their best interests, or sit out the election.
Then over the weekend we lost Kris Kristofferson, part of a generation of musicians who took a stand and did their part for the greater good. Were they flawed? Sure, aren’t we all? But they did the best they could to make the world a better place.
XOXO 👨🏼❤️💋👨🏽
Big says, You're right, her followers will follow. Thank the goddess there are way more Swifties. That's what celebrity can do --- either good or evil. Kristofferson was a Rhodes Scholar who hung out with the likes of Willie Nelson - another one who did a lot of good things. XOXO
DeleteShe's a public figure.
DeleteThe second she opens her mouth, her words count. She has wanted this fame for ten years. Now she's got it and has no idea what to do with it. She wants change, but at what price? She's Susan Sarandon-ing this election.
XOXO
Roan is most likely going to be a flash in the pan. Susan Sarandon, there's another one!!!!! LOL!
DeleteDon't even get me started with Sarandon!
DeleteXOXO
Big says,
ReplyDeleteI had no idea who she is --- or even that she'd turned Uncle Joe down to appear at the WH. Now that you've brought me up to speed - well, I'm rather happy I didn't know of her. I like the one comment above "I wish I could unbuy her music." And SNL is planning on having her as a musical guest the Sat before the election? I think Lorne should reconsider.
XOXO
You're not missing anything.
DeleteShe is doing what Madonna and Gaga did before while aping Drag artists and pretending to 'care'. And yes, SNL is planning on having her. They can keep her, too.
XOXO
Even at your age, you should still probably read Rolling Stone, it's providing very clear insight into this campaign. Also, if you'd been reading it, you'd have seen that Chapell Roan has fully endorsed Kamala Harris about a week ago. That would have saved you a lot of cutting and pasting, and you should probably do some sort of a retraction.
ReplyDeleteHahaha
DeleteNo. Chapel is an entitled brat who learned geopolitics from TikTok. I read her interview in Rolling Stone and nothing she said would make me change my opinion of her. She's old enough to have voted three times and she still does not know how this country works.
She's a gay cosplayer. She realized she liked pussy and poses as one of the collective with catchphrases and empty gestures.
She would be better endorsing Cheeto: at least that way she won't have uncomfortable conversations during Thanksgiving with the relatives she said she loves so much (that's from Rolling Stone).
XOXO
Hey Sixpence, a fellow blogger (Willym of willheorwonthe.wordpress.com) is concerned that he hasn't received a comment from Old Lurker since the end of August and is wondering if he's okay. I haven't had a Lurkie comment since the end of August either. How about you? Do you have any way to contact Lurkie directly and find out if all is well?
ReplyDeleteWillym's correct blog address is willyorwonthe.wordpress.com
DeleteOMG no, I have not read anything from him lately.
DeleteI checked the blog but no new posts. I used to hear from him when I had the wordpress but after it closed, I have not gotten any comments from him.
Now I'm worried....
XOXO
I do know who Chapell Roan is, but only familiar with her one song that all the lesbians embraced as the gay version of the YMCA. While I do feel her on the government and politics, I'm so over empty promises of the things the US really needs and should not be issues of getting for We the People, will we ever get them....yet somehow still don't get passed, because I feel we have 90% corporate politicians in office.... but girlfriend needs to take a stance and view the life she wants to live and a country to wants to live in. No politician keeps their promises, but it is like night and day the things the two parties represent. And while the Dems do things to piss me off and still don't get some things done I want, you can see the party means well and tries to do the right things, which gives hope that the new shinning stars... life Kamala, Pete and a handful of others brings. I bet you Chapel doesn't even vote!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile the debate?!?! I expected Sofa Loren to go completely off the rails. They were more civil towards each other then I would have expected.
Sofa is an experienced debater. He only blew it big time at the end when refusing to acknowledge the Jan 6 shenanigans and the big lie. But of course, he lies as much as The Felon.
DeleteXOXO
Ha!
DeleteYeah, she's got that song, apparently.
She can take a stance but what she did was to say she was voting for Kamala (after the blowback and while mispronouncing her name, natch) but she never retracted the 'both sides are the same'.
The Dems are not perfect but they are not threatening to deport one third of the country, disenfranchise LGBTQ people, erase Tans people and make incubators out of women.
I think the debate was what I expected (Couch Fucker has experience lying and as a slick lawyer from a very good school) but yeah, he fucked it up at the end.
XOXO
I have had it with the fence sitters. It's all about 'them'. I think they like the attention. Anyone with common sense can see what is at stake in this election and Roan and her ilk are all about a single issue or about making a statement. F 'em. Spoiled brats. But it's not just them. I watch the post debate stuff and reporters talking to 'undecided' voters. Such crap. They can't articulate why they are undecided or they use it as a soapbox to bash away at their single issue. Grow up already. UGH. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteFuck the fence sitters.
DeleteIt IS all about them and their performative shit. Ugh. There should not be undecided anything this election! People are idiots.
XOXO
