Oh, Queer but Official ...?
And now it's here.
Remember when I told you about Queer, the Burroughs book adapted by Luca Guadagnino? Well, the full trailer is here. Damn. That cinematography! Will most probably see it in theaters. I think movies like this deserve the big screen. And then I’ll stream it. Just like I did with Call Me By Your Name. Also, @OmarApollo is in it. Sans prosthetics…

P.S. I re-read that book and it feels... dated and almost quaint? But I still think Burroughs craved men with a surprising intensity, while at the same time despising himself for it.
I'm looking forward to this movie too. The trailer is great! I agree that books from the era of unquestioned and unexamined internalized homophobia are "dated and almost quaint" to those of us living in the era of Pride. It's like "The Well of Loneliness" for us lesbians. We recognize the same-sex longings but the "sick and sorry" pathology of the characters is off-putting to today's "not sick and not sorry" ethos. But we must understand our history in order not to return to it.
ReplyDeleteSame!
DeleteI love the art direction and the photography looks fab. I did read The Well of Loneliness! and OMG the PATHOLOGY of it all!!!! It's a product of the times, of course.
But yes about history. Not repeating.

Honestly? No interest. Craig did it hoping to get an Oscar Nomination.
ReplyDeleteOh, Craig has played gay before.
DeleteThis is not his first dick rodeo.
I will be seeing it. I am very curious about it.
XOXO
I want to see this too. And if a uncut version of those two fucking came out....sign me up! I wouldn't even mind being spit roasted between them.
ReplyDeleteOh, can you IMAGINE?
DeleteCraig does have a nice dick. He's done some nude (and gay) scenes before...
And Omar Apollo has a nice one, too!
XOXO
Oscar beg or not, Craig is proving himself more than Bond and I'm here for it.

DeleteHe's got good range. Layer Cake comes to mind...
