Oh, Durand ...!
Think of it this way: he's Sade's godchild and your favorite cousin on your daddy's side, born to Prince and Luther Vandroos, and he treats you to a quiet storm. That's @durandbernarr.
Werk!

That's the title of one of my favourite songs. The most lethal, the most essential thing is to hear your own voice. Also, keeping up with the idea of writing as catharsis, this one blog is dedicated all to myself. More solipsism would be hard to find. And I like it like that. Oh, and this is a queer (and self-proclaimed 'ADULT') blog so go ahead, make your day... mine is done.
Sorry, I think men should sound like men when they sing. Falsettos are verboten.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes.
DeleteThe forest. The trees. You should have stuck longer. He goes from Stevie to Barry White halfway through....

Big says,
ReplyDeleteEven growing up with Frankie Valli and The 4 Seasons and Barry Gibb with the Bee Gees, the falsetto of the background vocals is too much. Couldn't handle it for long. But I will admit, he does have a Vandross vibe.

He's got more Prince to me, but I could hear Luther.
DeleteI love the attitude and the sense of joy. And the rhythm.
I like the Bee Gees in the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, though...

HuntleyBiGuy:
ReplyDeleteI like the sound. Something that can play in the background while working, or something to listen to while I decompress.

That's a great idea!
DeleteAnd I love the beat. You know how I love anything with a beat...

Adore... Roger is clearly a huge influence, as well. I adore a man who has the ability to use his falsetto. Duran is a adorable and such style. Maybe style over substance, but then I think his lyrics have a lot to say.... like his fashion statements. Interesting band, too. I love me a tight ensemble. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteSame!
DeleteI think it's fab when somebody can sustain that falsetto and then drop like a stone and give us that change. And think he's got style and substance: something to say and he says it out loud.
XOXO
He's got an impressive vocal range! I like him, his voice, his sound, his band, and his backup singers!
ReplyDeleteI know, right??
DeleteI was expecting airy and bluesy and then he rocks and growl. I thought it was an experience.
The one background singer was kinda daddy...
XOXO
I like it, and I think men can sing however they want to sing.

Well, rAmen, Bob!
DeleteI think few men can actually sing falsetto well. And he's got style to go with it.
