Oh, Beauty & The BEAST ...?
A while ago I was reading that the whole monster/human fanfic is absolutely popular in a lot of the M/M fiction forums. So I went online (duh) and it’s absolutely true: it is indeed a thing and it's very, very popular. (Whattpad comes handy in situations like this!) I’ve also read several of the novels dealing with the many iterations of a man falling in love with a monster/ vampire/werewolf/ angel/ alien etc that just happens to be another male. Tale as old as time, told even before Barbot de Villeneuve wrote Beauty and the Beast in 1740.
And it’s not just because the girlies go crazy writing steamy stories online. M/M with a monster fulfills several goals: exploring a taboo, subverting masculinity and power dynamics and it's full of metaphors for the 'outsider' as a protagonist to name a few. Not to mention it’s perfect escapism and it thrives with the inclusion of 'othered' bodies. Add a very clear challenge to prejudice and a current of emotional depth and you have the almost perfect narrative to work with. I can see the attraction. And here we have @Himeros giving us a taste of that delicious cake. And it's erotica, so you know you'll have to go to YouTube to watch it before you demonstrate you’re an adult because homophobia.

P.S. Jonzu is both on Twitter @JonzuXJones and on Insta @jonzu and you can see he loves this mood!
P.P.S. for those wondering about why they stay on Twitter, it's VERY hard for gay porn stars to just up and migrate to another platform that will allow them to promote their studio and OF material and bring their followers with them. Instagram (owned by another billionaire) cracks down on male nudity or semi-nudity and Facebook (owned by same fucker) is supposed to be 'family friendly' to maximize clicks. You and I can up and leave Twitter any day (and have done it) and that speaks more about our privilege than their desire to give Elmo clicks..
"Queerly Ever After" -- great series name!
ReplyDeleteOMG right???
DeleteI would watch the hell out of a Netflix series with that title.

Whenever you think there's nowhere else for porn to go a whole new sub-genre opens up.
ReplyDeletexoxo
And that's what keeps it fresh.
DeleteI love this idea from Davey Wavey...

I hate to tell you, but it isn't only M/M. Remember Twilight? Where vampires sparkled?
ReplyDeleteOh, Dave.
DeleteThere is nothing less literary or groundbreaking or subversive than Twilight. That Mary-Sue drivel is nothing more than a long narrative with less merit than Luigi Mangione's manifesto. Twilight is Mormon housewife soft porn: an invitation to Patriarchy. There's nothing more conformist than Meyer's view of the genre. It was successful because America is so repressed when it comes to sex and because Catherine Hardwick and Melissa Rosenberg re-wrote it for the screen.

HuntleyBiGuy:
ReplyDeleteI can see the interest in this genre. We may get bored with our everyday life that feeds our everyday fantasies (though I have some very hot go to IRL memories of a certain guy). We all need to spice it up a bit, so why not bring in real fantastic players? And that “beast” IRL? 🥵
XOXO 👨🏼❤️💋👨🏽
