Oh, getting ready?

I have discovered those little under-eye patches thanks to my gurls and I swear by them. They make me look (and feel, by default) alert and fresh. And sadly, I have not done a 'dressing up' routine in forever. Last time I dedicated time to 'getting ready' was for a wedding I went to in February in Florida. I even got a little bit of make up applied courtesy of the Wyphe's girlfriend. It felt fantastic.

I think that more men should dedicate sometime to themselves when it comes to grooming. It is so fucking rewarding! I know there's a whole swath of the male population that's wham-bam-shave-me-man and that's it. Yeah, you know who you are. You (hopefully) slap some shaving cream before doing the deed and some after shave when you're done. Right?

I gave Huntley once a shaving kit (brush, razor, stand, the works!) and he seemed to enjoy it (he keeps that delicious mustache ready for action) and he gave me a limited edition Harry's shaving kit that was totally awesome. I wish more men would get into the idea that dedicating time to themselves is GOOD. It's not about wasting time, it's about investing some time in yourself.

Also, I went to see Gladiator this past weekend, because of course I wanted to go see men in short skirts and sandals covered in sweat and crawling around shirtless in the Coliseum's sand. And you already know Paul Mescal makes me wanna go unf! So there's that. That man could get it. For real. I would even disregard the fact that he's straight and let him hit it. We all know he would not be the first straight man to make me go astray....

XOXO

P.S. for those really opposed to ‘buying stupid stuff’ you can literally buy a foolproof selection of grooming products conveniently pre-packaged for the man with no time for fuckery. Just drop by your  closest Target/Sephora/Ulta and you’ll find it in the men’s section right next to your beloved Old Spice… Don’t say I can’t be helpful.

It’s nice when you have a staff to help you through all of this. And working from home, you absolutely do the bare minimum. At this stage in life, it’s hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

That helps! And I know that you put on a nice Polo and are clean shaven even if you're working from home. Because I know.

  3. It's amazing how much work, effort and product went into his tousled bed-head hair style.

It's not easy. And were you expecting a descriptor similar to 'artful mullet'??

    1. About sweaty shirtless men fighting for their lives?
And I know you groom. You have a pornstache. That demands care.

  5. Oh, you know me... that morning routine. I can do it under the gun in 20 minutes if I have to, but prefer 45. At my age, you have to prepare. If I'm thinking of hooking up... it's all got to look its best... and that takes a lot of work these days. I'm going through this period where younger men are hitting on me and I never want to show up looking less than the best I can. I know I am truly old the day I stop shaving and buzzing. But giving up now seems like a waste of time... Kizzes

    1. Oh, I'll never give up.
There's always a reason to look good and that's ME. And 45 minutes sounds reasonable. That includes showering and moisturizing, right??

Well, I'm one of those shave and go guys. I looked into the Harry's Shave Club. Oooph. I'll stick with my Gillette razor. 😊

Oh, Huntley gave me that Harry's gift box and I love it! I also think that if something works then we should not change it. I mostly do an electric razor because it's more practical and faster than the razor...

  7. I never leave the house before as you say "dressing up". I do my routine every day, including some brow and finishing powder. The only time I don't do this is if I'm not leaving the house at all, then I after showering, I just splash on some lemongrass witch hazel, and let the skin relax all day, like I do at night.

It's a self-care ritual. I don't do the finishing powder but I do some witch hazel!!!

  8. Do your under-eye patches really make a difference? I’m always on the lookout for something new. No Target here. Maybe Ulta. Definitely Sefora. I’m on my way!

I am using something called Pixi (they have several kinds) and my eyes look rested! I use them especially when I don't have a good night's sleep or when I need to be in a zoom call. Cameras are unforgiving.
