Oh, Inside Sean...?

You just knew this one was coming, right?? After all, it's THAT time of the year...
And like belly buttons, EVERYBODY and their uncle has an opinion about decorating for the holidays. Everybody.

XOXO

P.S. I have to remember to take some pics to give you a mini-tour of my mini-abode before the New Year...

  1. I see all that and my first thought is, "Who puts it all away?"

Exactly! And how long does he keep finding things that he’s put in nooks?

    2. For what I've seen people have dedicated spaces in their houses for all kind of holiday-specific stuff.
How they do it, though, it's a mystery to me too!!!

  2. Clutter like that would drive me absolutely MENTAL.

    1. Same.
But it's homey! I do think that the whole trinket-loving gene skipped a generation with me. My gran LOVED trinkets!

  3. I don't decorate and haven't for years mostly because of what Bob said. Getting it out for 2 or 3 weeks and then having to put it all away. This is what retailers live for.

    1. Absolutely.
I know some people who buy xmas stuff in February! They do get very cheap stuff that's high quality, though...

    HuntleyBiGuy:
As I’ve gotten older, and since the decorating falls to me (along with my cookie week) I don’t do as much as I used to. The tree doesn’t quite get as many ornaments, mostly the sentimental ones, as opposed to the “filler” ones (you know what I’m talking about, the satin and styrofoam balls that come in a six pack, etc.). And the knick knacks aren’t as plentiful.

Looking forward to your home tour!

Oh, and nothing comes down until after Three Kings day in January.

    2. Oh yes!
Cookie week! And I can imagine that it's a lot. And I think that the sentimental ornaments are the only ones that should stay! And taking anything down before Three Kings is just foolish.
I'm going to take some pics this week or next I hope I remember LOL

  5. Big says,
"...something to fill every nook and cranny." Well, he wasn't kidding about that, was he? I could never live among that clutter. But --- and you knew this was coming (LOL) --- those books!!! Love all the books.
Our tree is filled Franklin Mint ornaments received 1 or 2 per year. The rest of the decorations depend upon whether I feel energentic enough to put out.
    XOXO
P.S. Looking forward to the tour of the new digs!

I think if I had that room, I'd also called it my 'library' cause I'm a snob LOL
I think his tree is pretty, though....
I'll make sure to take some pics before New Year's to show you guys how I'm living now. It's MUCH smaller. But I like it

  6. My word - nothing says Xmas like taking a cramped, cluttered space and making it even more so. I'm ducking my head just watching this. He's sweet but I think he's lost focus. Things of interest shouldn't compete for attention. If you want someone to notice something - give it room. He has some wonderful stuff and I adore his passion for cottage life and his general gentle aesthetic. But it is way too much in to small a space. I can't imagine being happy there in summer. The dehumidifier would have to run non-stop. It's like he's taken a tiny cottage and turned it into the basement of my nightmares.

You KNOW people love their xmas and their trinkets. I do love the cottage though. Off season/holidays I'm sure is super charming!

The cottage is adorable! I really like smaller houses. They look approachable.

I like that the upstairs is kind of xmas-free. Just a touch here and there. And I love that tree!

  9. Too much for me, but he has so many wonderful things to study. I wonder what the original modest, laborer, resident of the cottage would think!
