Oh, Le Freak? C'est chic!!
Beeeayatch.
Just wait a sec. I may need to lay down.

P. S. This apartment is giving The Hunger meets The Eyes of Laura Mars for a Studio 54 night out during 9 1/2 Weeks and I’m here for it.
That's the title of one of my favourite songs. The most lethal, the most essential thing is to hear your own voice. Also, keeping up with the idea of writing as catharsis, this one blog is dedicated all to myself. More solipsism would be hard to find. And I like it like that. Oh, and this is a queer (and self-proclaimed 'ADULT') blog so go ahead, make your day... mine is done.
Too dark for my taste.
ReplyDeleteOhhh that's actually what I like about it!
DeleteThe back of the apartment is like a jewel box.

HuntleyBiGuy:
ReplyDeleteI really like what he did with this space. I think it’s so cool with the black walled bedroom to make it kind of disappear. And the glass block shower, visible from the bed, is very sensual.
XOXO 👨🏼❤️💋👨🏽
Same.
DeleteThe bedroom is quite sensual, no? And I think the idea may have been to create a partition without actually building a wall. The touch of the shower? Genius.

Big says,
ReplyDeleteI like what he did with the layout, the kitchen and bath are very well thought out and the materials he used were great. He claimed he wanted to "play up the light" - uh, I think he lost that game. The entire space is very, very dark. His idea to hide the new HVAC was ingenious. But he said he wanted to maintain the materiality of the walls and ceiling. He should be sent to the corner for painting the tin ceiiing. Shame! And shame again!
XOXO
I think he did use the light from the windows smartly.
DeleteRemember, this is kind of a shotgun loft: it was never meant to be inhabited, so the light comes in only on one side of the building. And he does use that.
I think the tin ceiling could have stayed in the original color? But I like the contrast he created with the pipes!

When I was in my 20s, that was my fantasy a space in NYC. If it were mine it would never have ended up looking like that, unfortunately. But very cool. Also, my life wouldn’t ever have been in slow motion.
ReplyDeleteOhhh can you IMAGINE?
DeleteIt is still my fantasy space. And for it to look like this, we would definitely need professional help. I think he did a great job.
XOXO
Big is right, the space is dark. What these shows truly need to do is start listing prices. Also, it's an apartment, not a loft, there is a really big difference.
ReplyDeleteOh, but this is Architectural Digest. Prices are superfluous. LOL
DeleteIt's a custom job, so I think the budget was not a problem (and builders do get special pricing, so going to The Homo Depot would not have the same impact).
And it is actually a loft: it was not intended for habitation, it was a commercial space. That is the real state definition of a loft. A loft is like a studio on Mountain Dew: originally a big space without partitions usually used by artists but now they're coveted spaces in urban areas.

Now that is a transformation!!!!!! I like it, but for me personally just a bit to much polish. I can only imagine the choice words the contractors had for him behind his back!!!! Even though I'm sure they were richly paid.
ReplyDeleteI also like the way Huntley thinks. Imagine being in the bed to watch three guys in the shower?!?!?!
Oh, it's literally day and night.
DeleteThe 'before' is kinda pretty but so bland. This version? It's like chocolate. I do like the polish. It's very Haslton. And can you IMAGINE the conversations they had when he was building that shower? THAT took ingenuity.
And watching three guys in the shower from the bed? Dream.
XOXO
