Oh, Nikklas...!
Have I ever told you that when I moved to Chicago the wyphe and I considered getting a loft in Old Town? I know, crazy. Especially because now I’m convinced lofts are for only one person. There’s no place to go when you neeed a ‘me’ moment. Come to think about it, I think my fascination with lofts comes from repeated watchings of Flashdance.
I know. Delusional. But a boy can dream, no???

ReplyDeleteI agree that a loft is ideally for one person or a couple, at the most. I really like what Nikklas has done with his build out. His changes give him the extras that many of us expect in a living space (e.g. a work area separate from the living space). I do wish there was an alternative to climbing a ladder to open the upper windows, though.

The video apartment is well done but not for me (claustrophobic bedroom and office thanks to ceiling height). I fantasized about a loft in NYC in the ´70s when then were huge empty spaces in old former industrial buildings. Over the years they’ve become apartments, sometimes with a bit more flexibility. Too bad I didn’t have money for one in the ´70s. The movie Ghost had a great loft space.
ReplyDeleteThose stairs with stocking feet would be a nightmare.
ReplyDeleteIm sorry.....I didn't notice the flat tour. There was a flat?????
ReplyDeleteI do love the floating staircase. And I love the style he has....and boyfriend has it!!! Im in love with the wall of Windows to the loft. Genus planning and aesthetic. To make if feel more open yet...a separate space. I said it once I'll say it again you do not need to live in a big space to have it feel chic Urban and swanky. Give me a little Bijou jewel box any day.
I agree that it's a space for a single person or a couple who don't really want Me spaces.
ReplyDeleteI'd need a much larger loft ...

Just lovely. That is intelligent design at work there, folks. Really loved it. And that's saying a lot. (For you KNOW how much I dislike house porn!) Thanks.
