Oh, Symone...!
While visiting Philly, and in the middle of our ki-ki, Mads and I got into the gurlz. Because of course we did get into RPDR. Duh. One of the Queens we talked about was Symone. I love her and her Drag aesthetic. I think in her season it was either her or Gigi Goode who was going to get the crown and Symone rightfully won. She was great. Left no crumbs. The attires! The concepts! The Black Girl Magic!
In this video we get to see her closet (it's fab) and we get to hear what Drag means to her. And that, my dears, is what makes Drag magic.

P.S. that girl's got IT.
Fun video -- enjoyed watching it, thanks!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome!
DeleteSymone's got a great personality. So chill!

It's always interesting to get into a drag closet. Loved hers. You knew it would be fun. I remember when I stopped doing drag after 28 years, I told the girls to come raid. Drag isn't cheap all the time. I had one roped off section of things staying of course... for special occasions or shows. Needless to say, everything was gone in a day.
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should have held an auction?
Oh, absolutely.
DeleteIt's a look behind the curtain, a look at the artist and their motivations and inspirations. And it was awesome that you did that. Drag IS expensive.

She was one of my favorites from the jump. Her fashion was spot on every single week!

Same.
DeleteShe stepped in the workroom and I was like: she's one to keep in mind. And you are right: she nailed the challenges one after the other.
Very strong contender.

Since I don't watch the show, I don't know what you're talking about.
ReplyDeleteBut Dave,
DeleteThis has nothing to do with the show and everything to do with the artist!
Again, forest/trees.

Big says,
ReplyDeleteShe's a beauty, ain't she? Prettier than ought to be allowed. I can say, all that glam isn't cheap. It has to cost a gurl a fortune, and then where to keep it all???
XOXO
Oh, dear, yes.
DeleteThat MUG! The transformation is uncanny. And like Mads say, that glam is NOT cheap. That's why these videos are so interesting.

She's a beauty! And such great fun stuff... costumes! Yay. Love that closet. You know, I used to 'permanently borrow' something from every show I did... after 300 shows, I just could not move it anymore. But until that time, I was never at a loss for something to wear for Halloween! The only thing I kept was a 1940's Embrey, full-length winter dress coat which I take out only on very special winter occasions. I put it on and I dunno... either I look like Orson Wells in his prime, or Cousin IT from the Addams Family. I don't care. It weights a ton and I simply adore it. So, I hope Symone never has to move... and can keep her collection together. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteShe is stunning.
DeleteAnd I love this story! I know of people who have worked in theater and movies and have kept props and costumes that were going to be disposed of. Love the idea of that coat!!!
XOXO
Great video. I love her!
ReplyDeleteSame!
DeleteI think it's fascinating watching artists describe the intricacies of their craft.
