Ok, K.C....!
Babes, it's not how much you've got. It's how you use it. And there’s proof of that.
This apartment is a total mood, especially this winter, when I’m seeing a ton of gray and brown very early. And also I love plants! I don’t really care much for pets and their forced codependency, but plants? Yes, please. And he’s adorable and seems to have adapted to his space well. The single life and all that. And then there’s the station, so close by.
Also, this is not America, where MacMansions rule and have warped the perception people have of dwellings and are spoiled by their square footage in non- urban areas (I could get a house deep in the exburbs or in the countryside for more or less what I pay for an apartment in Chicago but then I’d have to commute to work. Choices). This is a city in Japan, where a one bedroom/efficiency could go from 164,140 Yen to 90,996 Yen (the average monthly salary is around 376, 413 Yen for comparison).
This is really not an inspo video, though. It’s more a look at how people live. Especially in other countries.
My apartment right now is not this small, but it’s close! I need to give you a peek soon. I keep forgetting to take some pics to show you…
XOXO
P.S. his insta is @shinjuku_jungle and it’s very cool!!
I like all the plants but feel they are encroaching on that very tiny space.
ReplyDeleteBut again, one man's castle ....
xoxo
Oh, he's a bottle blond.
ReplyDeleteBig says,
ReplyDeleteHoly crap.... I like plants (though we can't seem to get much to survive and thrive) and plants are good (uh, we'd be dead without them, right?). But that's over the top. Having to push leaves out of the way to accomplish some task would be annoying.
XOXO
I love the greenery but that might add to a claustrophic feeling. For myself, I don’t need a lot of space and would have a ball designing a small functional space, as long as the ceilings don’t lose in on me. But, if I have to share, I NEED MY SPACE!
ReplyDeleteI couldn’t keep plants alive to save my own life—even if they were hanging in the shower where I was reminded to water them.
ReplyDeleteOops that was me…not sure why it was anonymous?
DeleteRemember when ferns and other verdent plants were a thing in the 1970’s ? The macrame plant holders, pottery plant pots, hanging metal plant baskets from either the Akron or from Tia Juana ruled the roost in many homes.
ReplyDeleteBlondie boy from Japan certainly has a green thumb and makes the most of his living space, as many people in Japan have to do. And to think the first tract homes in America were 2 bedroom, 1 bath small houses with a 1 car garage and most importantly affordable !
