Oh, a 24 Hour Blackout …?

Posted by Jon Stewart but initiated by John Clemens:

“The 24 hour Economic Blackout"

As our first initial act, we turn it off.

For one day we show them who really holds the power.

WHEN:

Friday February 28th from

12:00 A.M. to 11:59 P.M.

WHAT NOT TO DO:

Do not make any purchases

Do not shop online, or in-store

No Amazon, No Walmart, No Best Buy

Nowhere!

Do not spend money on:

Fast Food

Gas

Major Retailers

Do not use Credit or Debit Cards for non essential spending

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

Only buy essentials that are absolutely necessary

(Food, Medicine, Emergency Supplies)

If you must spend, ONLY support small, local businesses.

SPREAD THE MESSAGE

Talk about it, post about it, and document your actions that day!

WHY THIS MATTERS!

~ Corporations and banks only care about their bottom line.

~ If we disrupt the economy for just ONE day, it sends a powerful message.

~ If they don't listen (they won’t) we make the next blackout longer (We will)

This is our first action.

This is how we make history.

February 28th

The 24 Hour Economic BlackOut Begins.

XOXO

P.S. for those who think boycotts don't work, retailers KNOW what's coming and they're not happy. Duh...

P.P.S. I have not bought ANYTHING from Target after they backstabbed the LGBTQ+ community. And now a Repug is gonna sue them. Tiniest of violins...

      Not. One. Cent.
Let's see how they feel after this.

  3. Oh you know I'm on fire for this and I think I might just swipe that last picture for my blog tomorrow. And I have no problem not buying nothing. You know I feel about the big conglomerates and chains anyway. We the people will show big corporations and those fascist what were made of.

    1. Do it!
Let everybody know about this. The more, the merrier.
I am only buying local. I'm going to a little Mexican restaurant for dinner tomorrow, too.

    1. Oh, I hope so too!
Even if only one million people do this, it'll be ok. And you know it's only gonna be the first. I'm here for all and any boycott to corporations.

  5. Like Maddie, I stole you pic. What most people don't understand, we know it won't be the entire nation, it just needs to get enough people involved to make an obvious difference.

  6. Big says,
Oh, we're in! Not that we do much shopping anyway - and Target, Walmart, Amazon are infrequent to begin with. This one won't make much noise - but doing another and then another will.

    1. Ugh. I have a beef with Target. And I used to like them.
Ahhh and you get the idea. This is only the FIRST one. I'm ready to keep doing this as long as it's needed.

  7. Too cool... I hope this upsets everybody. Not spending money is my current mode. I just really like not spending money. I despise all the big box stores - Target number one. In a way they are worse than Walmart - because those that shop there think they are somehow superior to the trash that shops at Walmart. Get a clue - it's all trash. Consumerism needs to end. It is killing the planet.
