Oh, Willy...!
In a political climate where immigrants, BIPOC and Queer people and their bodies are used as props and and as means to stoke fearmongering, @willychavarria's Paris show is a breath of fresh air. *breathes*
Showcasing urban, Cholo, street, Queer and 'other' styles during the reign of Mango Mussolini and adding a touch of Catholic altar boy feels absolutely necessary right now. Also, the silhouettes slap and are those @jbalvin and @tokischa?

Big says,
ReplyDeleteIt's all too dark for these old eyes to see much.

I give them props, but the far too baggy style ain't for me.
ReplyDeleteStill, between the fashion and the music it was a great show.

I personally am not into the oversized baggy clothes myself, but I do like the color palette. But there's something about this collection that depresses me a bit I'm not sure what it is. Even though the Fabrics flow something feels very stiff to me. The political climate it's depressing enough. I will say it's a very creative show. Like most designers, I like the women's clothing better.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to see models utilized in a fashion which gives the fashion they are wearing even more potency. It's wonderful to see that industry's strict guidelines obliterated and cast off like yesterday's runway sensation.
ReplyDeleteI agree.
DeleteIt gives the clothes some... gravitas. I think Willy is a rebel.
