Oh, ...Velour?
When Sasha Velour went on Drag Race, nobody thought she'd win. She was a great contestant, but she didn't have the glittery demeanor of other participants, or the apparent glamour of other girls in her season. It wasn’t until that rose petals finale number when she basically created a Before/After Sasha Velour moment for the whole franchise. And the show is better for it.
Here, we get to tour this Drag artist's domain and boy, what a trip. A creative mind is always a sight to behold.
XOXO
I always loved Sasha from the moment she entered the workroom BECAUSE she wasn't like the others but she made some amazing drag and some smart choices.
ReplyDeleteBut, yeah, that rose drop was epic!
xoxo
Same.
DeleteThat primal scream? She got my attention. And I liked her for the same reasons (and she was never in the bottom, I believe). That rose petal number GAGGED the girls. It even gagged Ru!
XOXO
Drag Race is on cable. I don't have cable.
ReplyDeleteOh, Dave.
DeleteThis was about the artist. Trees meet the forest.
And Drag Race (and Sasha's season) can be found in Paramount+, Disney/Hulu, Prime and VOD. So the 'no cable' thing is kind of a non-excuse...?

Big says,
ReplyDelete"Character and storytelling." Bingo! So, ya see, all you evilgelicals, it a performance. Yeah, just like your grampa saw in the late 50s and early 60s in movies and on TV --- and loved.
Though, I will say, she needs to clear out the flotsam. Keep those things that have special meaning --- get rid of the rest. Maybe donate them to a young queen struggling to get started.
XOXO
Yes!
DeleteOf course good Drag artists see it all as a performance on gender (that's too much for the evilgelicals, of course). And you KNOW Drag artists are gonna keep some stuff forever. I know that Sasha has taken more than one 'beginner' diva under her wings.
XOXO
She is one right behind Trixie and Alyssa as one of the top winners to really use the platform and have success. While many winner have faded away. It didn't surprise me when she won. She had done and created things the Drag Race stage never saw. And lately she has broken her baldness and actually been incorporating my wigs into her looks now. I can still vividly remember her Nightgowns show when it came to Philly. If you can recall how good a show is that long ago, you know it's good. So different, chic and avant garde!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you.
DeleteAnd Sasha is even more cerebral/performance art than Trixie and Alyssa. And I love that she's using more wigs. I love the statement of the bald plate, but she looks FABULOUS in a wig. Nightgowns is where I first saw the OHER Sasha, Miss Colby.
XOXO
Don't let JD Vance see that armchair drag!
ReplyDeleteHahahahahahaha
DeleteOMG
HAHAHAHAHA
*hiccups*
HAHAHAHAAAAA
XOXO
Oh, dear god. She survived growing up with the smell of a Kraft “cheese” factory! I need that blue chair/costume. Is it me, or does the “real” Sasha Velour seem like a wonderful, lovable human being?
ReplyDeleteHahaha
DeleteOh, yes. Life in a small town, I guess. And that chair is fabulous.
The 'real' Sasha is apparently as awesome as she appears to be. I recommend YouTubing her Nightgowns shows....
XOXO
Wow. Talk about living the life. That is some laser focus going on there. One walk around and you know who this person is and what they love.
