Oh, the Finale First Lewk 👑 ...?
Drag is a sport better appreciated in movement. And I think that the finale episode for each season of RPDR lets us see what the Queens have been up to in terms of 'elevating' their looks and fine tuning their talents (that now are showcased in the LalaParuza lip synch extravaganza). Take into account also that this last episode takes place basically when all the dust about the season has settled. It's filmed many months from the date the girls first enter the workroom. From my point of view, in the Finale episode many of the Queens get to bring what they could not bring to the season (they left early, their taste level has changed) or give us some more of what made them so memorable. After all, the Category is... Grand Finale Eleganza!
They have already crowned America's Next Drag Superstar (Mads gave us her take already), so this is not really a 'spoiler' but more like an amuse- bouche of what this set of girls can give right now. I have no idea how the intricacies of a reality tv contest work, all I can say is that all these girls look like superstars. The makeup, the costuming, the confidence! These girls leave no crumbs.
The girls in the top four are stunning (and very talented) and the only thing I'd have to say is that two of my early favs during the season did not make it all the way through (Crystal Envy and Suzie Toot) but you know how these things go. It's not just a pageant, it's not just reality tv and it's not just a talent show. It's all of that and maybe more? In any case, all I have to say is that they all looked fantastic during the Finale (Drag is dynamic, so it's better to see it in action) and that the top four deserved to be there. Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve and Talent galore!
XOXO
P.S. Ru did a little number during the Finale and I'm here for it. If I had my own franchise, I'd also do that, just for shit and giggles.... and because I can...
Suzie Toot burrrrrrrrought it. I loved the camp of it all!
ReplyDeleteBest of all my choice was crowned the winner baby!
xoxo
OMG didn't she???
DeleteThe references! The Camp! The cheek! And I was also rooting for her. With so many wins (and that backstory!) she was going to be top two anyway.
XOXO
Big says,
ReplyDeleteWe were out on Friday. But a friend in Orlando used her phone to tape some of the show and posted it to her FB page. Imagine my surprise! It was the entire Liza segment. OMG. She looked pretty good. Onya brought home, though.
XOXO
Oh, yes!
DeleteThey honored Liza and she was as fab as one would expect.
Onya was absolutely fantastic. And that number!!
XOXO
Some pretty wild looks on that runway! And love RuPaul's performance!
ReplyDeleteThe looks are everything!
DeleteAnd I always love it when Ru decides to do a number. The presence alone, dear. And leggggsss for dayssss...
XOXO
Interesting.
ReplyDeleteIt is!
DeleteTen years ago Drag was something the Masc4Masc crowd despised not very silently and was relegated to rainy Wednesday nights. Today it's on prime time on tv.

ReplyDeleteUn abrazo, amigo, y feliz semana post-pascua.
Angelillo!
Crystal, super maja! Y guapÃsima de tÃo!
XOXO
Absolutely incredible. What a lot of talent and brilliant costumes.
ReplyDeleteIt's why I always love the reunion lip synchs and the finale....it's cooking with gas as I say. Compared to the season itself, it's the only time the queens can truly be themselves and let their style show with the damn judgments. It also most like a drag show. My top 5 looks for the opening were- 1 Accacia, stunning and brilliant with the Foret-Me-Nots.... 2- Onya 3- Suzie, 4- Lydia, 5- Crystal. Honorable mention to Kori for FINALLY doing something different.
ReplyDeleteSame!
DeleteSo MUCH better than just a reunion!
And I think Suzie really elevated her drag here. Really. And Crystal is stunning.
Kori gives me the tingle to mingle when he's out of Drag, BTW...
