Oh, the G G C?

Oh, yes. The Gay Glass Ceiling. I’ve seen it in action.

Oh, you didn't know there was a glass ceiling for the gays?

  2. Makes sense. I know it existed in the theatre world - in a huge way. It was and is all based on fear. Fear of sex. That's what's behind the whole drag queen library thing. It threatens to spill over... get tainted... the gay thing. And the gay thing is about sex. So... eek! At work, I saw the concerns and ideas of fem men get the eye roll. Especially the concerns. They were perceived as being overly dramatic. Women? I found that was less so, but straight white CIS men... oh, honey. As far as gay men wanting masc men to rule? That's about being dominated, and again... it's about sex. You want take charge confident ruthless individuals... to force you into compliance. It's about sex. And sex still terrifies this weird little bubble we live in that we call a country. Kizzes.

    1. Of course is fear of sex.
And because puritanical societies fixate on sex/sexual drive/sexual expression, we have what we have with Drag artists reading books and Trans women being persecuted.
And one can be dominated by the femmest guy ever if one wants...

  3. Big says,
    LOL. But, yes, it's true.
"Butch it up." I directed a comedy and had an LGBTQ actor in a pivotal role. Took him outside after rehearsal one night and gently explained what I needed himm to do. His response: "That's the nicest way anyone has ever told me to butch it up." We both roared with laughter! P.S. The show was a huge success!

Glad the show was a success! And I think you approached it professionally: you told the actor what you needed. Duh.

Not everybody. And if they do, they look the other way. Because homophobia.

  5. I don't think I ever shattered a gay glass ceiling yet. But I think I had sex on one once.

Oh, babes. I'm sure you've shattered more than one glass ceiling, being your fabulous self is one of the ways to do that...
