I have always said chapel wrong is a phony and a pink-washed fraud who does not feel she needs to be 'educated' in politics. Under Cheeto's presidency. And still people insist she's 'representing' the 'community'. Mind numbingly disingenuous and stupid. Similar logic to that used by every gay or lesbian Repug, btw. Girl, if you are a woman who sleeps with women, THAT is a political act. Especially if the government actively seeks to take your rights (and the rights of other people in your ‘community’) away.
And confirming my bias against her brings me no joy. Looking at the young guns rally around her lies does not make me tut-tut them. I’m an old school fag (was an old school fag when I was twenty!) and I’ve literally seen straight Allies (say what you want, but Madge scolded other straight people for their lack of understanding of AIDS; Gaga is literally out there knocking on doors and even Taylor Swift is much more LGBTQ aware than chapel, who only appropriates the culture ) be more supportive than this woman, who people call a lesbian. She’s no lesbian. She just likes pussy.
Despise her. People pile up on me because I don't 'support' her. Well, fuck them and the high horse covered in dollar signs that this woman is riding. She'll never get my money and I have banned her on Spotify and Pandora. Her name does not cross my lists. I didn’t buy her record and I have not watched her videos. Her cosplaying, fumbling, pigeon-toed speech during the Grammys (reading from her journal at 27!) left me cold. Ugh. Put your mouth where your money comes from, woman! May she go the way of every gay for pay flake. May nobody remember her in five years. May she be gone into obscurity and never be heard of again as soon as she gets tired of aping the Drag aesthetic and pretending to be too famous to care about politics and has an Anita Bryant moment.
She's representing only herself and her pocketbook. So it's a no from me, dawg.

I remember hearing this a while back and wondering why it wasn't more spoken about; I find it annoying she riders the coattails of drag queens but doesn't seem particularly supportive of LGBTQ+ other than tired soundbites.

She's a pop star, why would you expect anything else? John Lennon once said that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus and was basically crucified. Pop stars have sudden fame, many of whom don't know how to deal with, so don't expect them to be role models.

ReplyDeleteThat's why the post yesterday surprised me. Cuz I know Bob the drag queen is a big supporter of her. They did a show together last summer in Philly. Of course I knew who she is but I only ever thought she had just one song and that was it.

Bob probably just thinks she's a reputable part of the LGBT I probably has never taken time to research it. That and she probably got a fat paycheck performing with her. I think we would be surprised at the level of LGBT in the community that are public figures that never do their research on people like this.
