Oh, The Wedding Banquet...?
Oh, I think I watched the earlier version of this movie many years ago, when Netflix was still sending the little red envelope with DVDs. Yes, I’m ancient. I still remember when Netflix would send you DVDs. Go figure.
Anyway, this seems updated and it’s got Bowen Yang and Lily Gladstone! I think I need something like this right now in my life.

Yes, I saw the original version of this too back in the day.
ReplyDeleteI knew I had seen it!
DeleteBut this time it has a different cultural background (Korean). And I love the leads...

HuntleyBiGuy:
ReplyDeleteOh this looks like fun! The premise does seem familiar, but the cast is fresh and the storyline seems steeped in tradition.

I know right?
DeleteThere are so many ways to tell a story, also.
But this looks good.

For me, Bowen Yang would be the draw.
ReplyDeletexoxo
Same.
DeleteHe's very funny (SNL!) and I really liked him in Fire Island!

Big says,
ReplyDeleteBowen Yang??? I'm in!!!
Don't remember the original. We didn't start with Netflix until streaming ... we were still doing the video store thing. There was a dude working there who really knew his stuff and would recommend films --- he was very rarely wrong.

Yes!
DeleteSame. And I remember video stores! And the video store clerks were total characters! There was something called Red Box for DVDs until a few years back but I think Netflix/Hulu/Disney/The works killed it.

Big says,
DeleteRedbox - Yes! I, however, refused to put a credit card into one. My BIL had his card cloned using a Redbox. Yikes!
XOXO
Sadly, this will never play in Harrisburg.
ReplyDeleteNope, probably not.
DeleteYou'd have to stream it or get it VOD.
XOXO
I saw a preview for it and it looked good but I don't think I can do another one I feel like this has been done 10 times already.
ReplyDeleteOh, it HAS been done.
DeleteI think I saw it and Debra did also. But it's a good chance to see it from this perspective (it's Korea, I think, instead of China) and Bowen Yang!
XOXO
Yes! I remember the original and I, too, probably got it by mail from Netflix. I had completely forgotten about that. And it really wasn’t that long ago in the greater scheme of things, was it? I’d see it for Bowen Yang.
ReplyDeleteLOL yay!
DeleteAnd Netflix was doing the DVDs up until after 2020, if I remember well. Then it went all streaming.
Bowen must be gold here.
