Oh, agreeing to disagree...?

When it comes to people, it is much better for us -who may not belong to that specific group- to let them inform us. Then we can become better allies, listeners and supporters. And learn something.

So why don’t we just sit back and listen, for a change?

  1. I agree -- listen and learn from those with LIVED EXPERIENCE, not ideology.

  2. I don';t know the trans experience other than what I've been told, and I look to tyrans people to educate me.

Same! I'm not Trans, I'm a cisgender gay man. I have NO IDEA of what a Trans person goes through! Why not listen to them instead of listening to stupid cis people speculate?

We all have our individual life experiences. Even within the various communities, there will be differences of opinion. Why would the trans community be any different? I do like how the video gave us different perspectives in the various age groups.

Not every Trans person goes through the same stages, at the same age or in the same environment. This video is good in that respect.

  4. Or better yet, maybe just let them live in peace. One of the big problems facing any community is their belief that if people understand they will be more accepting. That's not true. Understanding does not change bias. People who hate usually do so because they've been taught since early childhood to hate. I have a religious friend in the medical field who understands completely, but that does not change the fact that in his mind God says this is wrong.

If a person is a bigot there's NOTHING that will make them face the fact that dogma is bullshit. Same with incels or transphobes...

  5. Big says,
Hmmm. The differences in their opinions are as wide as the rest of the world. Go figure, eh? Their difficulties in relations are as varied as the rest of the world. Again, go figure, right? This falls into the category of placing sexual orientation labels. They're sexual human beings with wants, needs, and dreams.

Who knew??? And people should know better than placing labels. The thing is, simple people like simple solutions and simple definitions, which tells us they'll have a simple life.

  7. And usually when you listen from people in a lifestyle from their experience you often learn something. I often learn new things for my trans friends.

Every time I talk to a Trans person I learn something different. They're just... people. And they all have a very interesting story to tell...

    2. This also reminds me of how young queens get "rude" of trans people like they do the older crowd. I guess because they are not young and gorgeous, they can't relate. But they miss out on much, and first-hand accounts of life, and lifestyles and struggles many faced or face. To me, knowledge is power. All because they are not the norm? I like talking to all types, listening and learning.
