Oh, Jojo ...!

Such a charming space.

I love the idea of having plants everywhere, of course, and I love knicknacks, so there's that. And you can also see how another sensibility (and another culture) permeates the way people live and interpret their surroundings, with little to no regard for what suburbanites may think about space.

It also helps that he's an artist (the toilet paper caddy!!) and that there’s a more interesting view to what a dwelling can be from his perspective. It is definitely another way to see design and how we approach the place where we live, including use of space, color and design to enhance our personality.

I have to say I really liked his space, but I liked his philosophy of life even more.

  1. Okay, I found it a little too whimsical in areas, though I love some of the art work and the painted walls [dalmatians!!] but I must have that toilet paper caddy!

  2. Some of the art is interesting, but those white walls? I do color, the absence of color is boring, except for the hallway.

    1. The presence of color for the sake of color is... tacky.
In order to use color people need to have great style, a keen sense of color combination and a very good eye for light and shadow. Not everybody has that... what they have is paint on the walls.
Also, here the white walls make the artwork pop...

    HuntleyBiGuy:
Compared to some of your living spaces posts, this is sparse in comparison. And I like it, as it makes the apartment seem more open. It’s great that he has all of those plants all over and many just require water, no soil. The Dalmatian room is my favorite.

    1. It IS sparse, no?
And the distribution does make the space feel bigger (this is not an expansive apartment, like Lenny Kravitz's house!).
And here's another fan of the dalmatian room!

  4. Big says,
Oddly enough, I like it. A little too much on the walls - but I do like the Dalmatian wallpaper. Yes, please. Forget the tp caddy. Does that neon sign say "penis?" And the "I will never love you more than jacking off in the shower" --- I think we need both of those on our bedroom wall to go with our B&W nudes. LOL.

It makes the white walls more brilliant. And now I have to go back and look at the neon sign!! LOL

I do like plants and artsy knickknacks but even I have a limit.
But it's pretty! And he's fab.
