Matteo IS funny. He just is.
And I think that some people are naturally funny. Take Mads, for example, who has the crazy non-sequiturs and the wittiest deadpans when in person (and when writing!). I have several friends who seem to be able to do that effortlessly, BTW.
And to do stand up comedy? That's HARD. I really admire people who can weave such creative, funny and most times personal stories and create a coherent, hilarious narrative (think Margaret Cho, Wanda Sykes, Kathy Griffin and well, Matteo). But like Matteo says: practice makes perfect. But you DO need to have that 'it' factor...

I've been finishing up "Shameless" on my own since the wife wont watch that anymore because the characters are despicable. They are - but the point is they're doing what they have to, to survive.
