Here's the thing: I think @jackiebeat is a tad bitter and a little bit jealous (please notice how they both treat RuPaul as if she were Voldemort and refuse to give Ru her propers) and also that she's right in many issues. Do I agree with her on everything? Nope. Do I think she has good points? I do.
Between you and I, rumor has it (and @Mads probably knows more about this than myself) that people think that Jackie started thinking about a Drag series in the vein of RPDR before Ru and Co. would shop the idea around and that she feels robbed. Allegedly. But you know the internet, so take that with a grain of salt.
I think that politically (in terms of Cheeto, for example, and in terms of what the Founding Fathers wanted for America) she's right. And in some aspects, I think she's right about RPDR. But I also think that Pride, RuPaul's Drag Race and the fight for Equality have brought around many, many good things. So, yeah, Jackie. I agree with you when you say Repugs and Xtofascists are going to destroy us and I don't agree with you in others (the way she looked at the camera and said: Miss Vanjie...!) but please, give us more of THIS. Because this, what you gave here, is what we need right now.

Well right up front I'm going to tell you I adore Jackie have always adored Jackie or as I call her Jackie Barely Heartbeat!!! I couldn't agree more with her on her politics stance and the state of things right now. I think right now her and Bunny are more politically involved than any other drag queens I know.
ReplyDeleteAnd as much as I love drag race, the Queen's on there ...hell I even had a few friends that got on , I do agree with her to a point about drag race. I've always been more of the camp with the legendary Queens like she mentions like Joey Arista, Sherry, Bunny Hedda Dina Martina, Christy Burlington..Varla and even Bianca Del Rio was pretty much a legendary Queen before she went on drag race. I always will have far more respect for them because they've had such long careers and fan base before social media was big,they didn't have the luxury of a reality show and generally have very good creative shows with various talents while still being over the top drag queens. I think where RuPaul hurts drag was making the drag queens feel more celebrity than drag queens, and of course people who watch the show don't get it. I have seen first hand local drag queens get bounced from the night of entertainment so drag race girls can be featured. And with most of them they're talent is not on par with these older local Queens. But the real sad part is while they're entertainment is subpar most of the crowd there comes more for the meet and greet and that's it. If we have fans coming to drag shows for a meet and greet, then drag is in trouble. I think I like it better when RuPaul does like let's say her Las Vegas show. Maybe she should have venues like that becausein the long run I see local drag queens getting left out all together. And some fans also treat local Queens very differently because they haven't been on a reality show. Like Jackie Beat says not every drag queen is cut out to be on a reality show and jump through hoops. And there's so many queens on drag race, many of them forgotten already. I think of how many queens have been on drag race, I could probably count on 10 fingers the ones that are really really going to make it, stand out and have the real Raw , natural talent...with the likes of Alyssa, Sasha,Jinkx, Violet ,Sapphira and Utica...
