Oh, a Houseboat in Long Island...?
@jamiebush says it best:
“This home is a very personal expression of who I am and forces us to pay attention and to slow down — and to admire and have a reverence for the natural world in a way that we could never imagine.”
And I think that's something that many of us would love to do: to slow down. That's why we go on vacations, that's why we unplug. That is why we take breaks. But this? It's fab. It reminds me of summertime when I was a kid and we visited my aunt, who lived a thousand feet from the seashore...

ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic home and location. It looks so peaceful and the interiors are stunning. I can only imagine what they have to go through when they close up after their visit. Everything has to be secured and put away in case bad weather causes waves.

It's lovely.
DeleteAnd his family lives close by so they probably have people ready to help in case there's severe weather. And it's like a boat: most everything is bolted down.
XOXO
I think I'd be sitting and watching the views from dawn to dusk. So peaceful.

Can you IMAGINE??
DeleteThe sunrise and sunset times must be fabulous.

Big says,
ReplyDeleteMid-Century Modern...Houseboat. Interesting. I like it. Take lots of mosquito repellent. LOL.
XOXO
It's a great retreat.
DeleteAnd are there many mosquitoes with all that wind? I have suffered mosquitoes in the woods, but almost never at the seashore....

It's refreshing to see a beach/summer cabin/home so reminiscent of how such small seasonal dwellings USED to be, with the plywood, exposed joists, simple furniture and decor. Nowadays second, seasonal homes all seem too extravagant, over the top, and excessive to me.
ReplyDeleteI know, right????
DeleteIt's simple, practical and beautiful. Nowadays people are absolutely spoiled and are wasteful. For real.
XOXO
Very nice, but that spiral staircase would be a real killer.
ReplyDeleteYep.
DeleteProbably not for people with mobility issues. But it's got three floors and it's kind of compact space and a summer retreat so...
XOXO
And it's the prefect size. I love this. Homes, much like cocks, don't have to be big to be one happy. If I ever won a big lottery, I still wouldn't want a big house....gimmie a place like this and a small bungalow at the beach...that's it. And I adored the spiral staircase.
ReplyDeleteI know, right?
DeleteNothing superfluos, Well distributed. It's the efficacy what counts. And i would love to live by the sea....
The staircase is a very smart decision in a space like that.
XOXO
I have always fantasized about living on a houseboat. This would do fine. Unfortunately, my husband gets seasick… on the pavement next to a boat.
ReplyDeleteSame!
DeleteI think the idea kind of makes more sense if one lives near the coast, though. And I can feel your husband. Sea legs!
