Oh, if they’re not paying your bills…
All glam apart, I admire Ru because his is a success story like very few others. And that success didn’t come easy. What he says here about finding himself is something many people can relate to. We find ourselves through the most disparate channels.
I was also surprised by this woman (I think she did a podcast with Kamala Harris, but I could be wrong) and her capable interviewing. She did her research and read RuPaul's book before sitting her pretty ass down. Many ‘podcasters’ could learn a thing or two from this.
Well done.

P.S. @RuPaul's memoir The House of Hidden Meanings is pretty cool. I recommend it.
He deserves all his success.
ReplyDeleteHe does!
DeleteHe's worked hard and payed his dues.

When you get to a certain age, a certain level of success--whatever that means to you--you have zero fucks to give and all the truth comes out. Ru's been there for a while now.
ReplyDeletexoxo
Yes, he has.
DeleteHe's 64 and very successful, so yes.

HuntleyBiGuy:
ReplyDeleteRu really worked to bring drag mainstream, and he deserves the accolades.
XOXO 👨🏼❤️💋👨🏽
Absolutely.
DeleteOf course, there's always gonna be detractors, jealous bitches and assorted creeps, so having a thick skin is always welcome.

Big says,
ReplyDeleteI'll have to watch later when I have more time. But the opening alone hooks me when he says he does his own stuff. That alone is impressive --- as we see the BS others wrap themselves in.

It's a very interesting interview.
DeleteRu is a very complex human being (of course) and the public persona does not match the private one (as is often the case!). Still very interesting.
He seems very down to earth.

Bob's right, and believe me having zero fucks to give is simply wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI don't give any fucks and I don't have Ru's age or fortune, so yes.
