Oh, an actress of a certain age…?
I am currently reading @JeffHiller's hilarious and absolutely fantastic memoir. Hiller is one of those character actors who seem to have been everywhere for the longest time (twenty years!) and never seem to get the recognition they deserve.
Well, that's over (and thanks to Bob for reminding me of him!). He got nominated for an Emmy and won! And this is what Jeff said of his Emmy:
"I know it’s a clichĆ© to say you don’t think you’d win but every single article that came out said there was no chance in hell I would win. And I believed them! So when I heard my name called out, I took a beat to make sure it really was my name. I didn’t want to stand up and walk to the podium if I hadn’t won."
Well, congrats! Well deserved! And watch the series (it's on HBO, if you have it) Somebody Somewhere. It's sooo good... And if you like memoirs, get his! I had to wait because there were other twenty people at my Public Library before me that thought they needed to read it. How dare they? But I understand why they were there in the waiting list now. Well, totally recommend! I'm halfway through it right now and I'm pacing myself to make it last a little longer... It's fun, it's funny, it's got heart and a little bit of heartache. More people should be this self-aware...

P.S. if you think a little, you know you've seen him in commercials and miniseries for the longest time! He's not one to go unnoticed...
As soon as he won, I knew him, though I didn't know his name. I was like, "That guy!"

I have always liked Hiller but Somebody Somewhere made me a lifelong fan. I have to get that book.

I have always enjoyed what little of him I have seen, Nightcap I believe... and having said that he also gives me the willies for some reason. I have yet, and heavens knows, when I'll see this latest offering. I don't know anyone who watches HBO.But I hear the show is great, so good on him for take the Emmy. Ok. I didn't even know Emmy's were still a huge thing televised. Can you tell I'm not a big awards person?

DeleteHe is unusual. He's played supporting roles (was in that Ryan Murphy series with the serial killers, natch) and he's unmissable. I do recommend his book, though. I think you'd enjoy it.
And yes, the Emmys are still a thing!
