Oh, going Wayward...?

I just started this series on Netflix and oooh boy. Hooked. It has Mae Martin and it has Toni Colette. And super cool music! The series is twisty and surprising (small town, slightly off people, shit's gonna go down). It’s one of those places where nothing is what it seems. And everybody is related to everything. Also, never trust a bitch that smiles too much. Currently bingeing it.

Totally recommend. It's on Netflix (if you don't have it, go to a friend's house and bring popcorn!) but it's a Canadian production, so it may be available in other streaming platforms.

XOXO

P.S. Mae keeps surprising me. I knew about the stand up, now I know about the mini-series and my public library surprised me with her newest record:

Quite pleasantly surprised…

P.P.S. Welcome back, Debra! Missed ya!

  1. Huge Toni Collette fan; love her in everything and this show looks good. Now I'll have to befriend someone with Netflix!

    1. Same.
She's awesome. And you have got to get yourself a Netflix-wielding friend. Just bring some wine and get to it.

  2. I looked at that and gave it a pass, even though I like Toni Collette. It was the line "kids always run away from the school, some come back, and some just seem to disappear." Me? I'm looking forward to Boots.

Oh, babes. Good luck with the testosterone-addled world of boy-men in Boots. I may watch the episodes where they have sex. And I thought you didn't like coming-of-age gay stories????

  3. I love both Toni Collette and Mae Martin. Just finished the series. I wish I loved it more. But I still love them both.

    1. Ohhh and why?
I thought that even though it did leave some threads loose, it managed to wrap up most things without being predictable. The idea of the girls as a plot device was smart. I did think it was gonna be darker but that ending with the doors...

Abuse? Assault? Ummmmm...... Can I stomach this?

    1. It's not that graphic/triggering IMHO.
It's much more emotional abuse (which does not make it better?) and more on the psychological side of suspense...

Cool. Then I should be able to handle that. Thank you.

Mae does a podcast called Handsome with Tig Notaro and Fortune Feinstein. It’s a winner.

That's like a trifecta of hotness right there. And the Bermuda Triangle of funny. Looking for it right away...

  7. Thanks, Sixpence, glad to be back! This series looks way too disturbing for me to watch. I'm a delicate little flower.

  8. Mae Martin and Toni Colette are such a fun duo, and your description has me ready to tune in and grab the popcorn. Thanks for the tip. Enjoy bingeing and discovering all the ways Mae keeps us guessing!

    1. Oh they play off each other very well.
I did not know Martin was this talented. And you should watch it! It's got teens in it, but it may need some directing if you watch with yours.
And I've just finished. It was very cool.

  9. From the little bit I've seen from snippets, reminds me of a updated Twin Peaks.

    1. It's very twisty and there's of course, secrets.
It's good, and even though I thought it was gonna go the way of Yellowjackets, it didn't actually pushed it that hard...
