Oh, Pageant Perfection ...?

Drag pageants are no joke.
I have been only to once, but oh, boy! Miss America has nothing on them. For real. The numbers, the costumes, the organization!!! If I were a Drag artist, I'd do one to graduate into Dragdom.
Many of the girls who have been in Drag Race are veteran Drag pageant contestants. And you can see how that training/polish has influenced their tenure in the series. You can also see how their persona/personalities are more rounded, more defined.

You can see how that charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent is in full display in this video.  That's what makes them winners: that star quality. So check the mugs, take a look at the frocks and have a laugh ….

Long Live the Queens!

XOXO

  1. Big says,
Well, huh.... Pageants, eh? Watched this entire thing, and I still have questions. What are they? How do they lead one to Ru's Drag Race? Maybe I'm dumb, but I didn't get that info from this.

    1. Think of it as the military:
Drag pageants give you training, discipline, focus. They make you goal oriented and teach you to be professional and on time. Proof is, some of these girls were in Drag Race years ago. And they're still going strong...

  4. Of all the drag race girls, I think Sam' Star, Trinity the Tuck, Alyssa Edwards and Coco Montrese, are the most well-known and professional pageant girls that have been on. And the pageant system is no joke. I had many friends that were in the America gay pageant system, and the etiquette and protocol is no joke. Of course it also got into hot water when they wouldn't let trans girls in because the stipulation was you had to be a natural male with no cosmetic enhancements, which is why the Gay US of A pageant system started. And then of course there was the whole stink when Coco took Alyssa's crown because she failed to meet club and event appearances. Thank heavens Alyssa has grown since then. I will say some of my pageant friends do look down on regular drag queens though. I don't think they quite understand the camp. They get too tied up trying to look too much like women and too glam. When I was out and doing drag there was definitely two camps of Queens. The club and Performing Queens and the pageant Queens. They got along for the most part but you could tell there was always that air of snottiness from pageant Queens.

And Latrice and Akeria are the perfect example of both camps.

    1. Thanks, Mads!
And I did not know that they did not let Trans girls take part of the contest! Whoa. I imagine that's why Miss Continental is so popular with them.
And I remember the drama with Alyssa and Coco! LMAOOO Epic.

Love Latrice. And Akeria has got a glow up!

      XOXO
