Oh, Caveat Emptor..!

The sub heading here is, of course: fuck you, Google.

And we are all on Google because, duh, Blogger. They are counting your keystrokes as you respond to this post after you watched the video. Wanna bet?

Because NOTHING is free. Nothing.

XOXO

P. S. That Wired video? On fucking point. Do what he says.

One small step that I took was changing to Duck Duck Go for my search. But yeah, they’ve got my data big time with their productivity apps and main browser. I do also use Firefox for certain things just to segregate the sites I visit.

    1. I do DuckDuckGo everywhere: phone, laptop, iPad.
My main browser is DuckDuckGo but I do use Safari. And google for work. Ugh.

  2. Big says,
Well, they'd be mighty disappointed in what they collect of me. I'm old and don't give them much fuel.
The tracking and fingerprint stuff? This is why folks should turn off their phones during protests. Ya wanna video of take pictures? Get a burner....

    1. Good for you!
And I've told a ton of people to use burners because they are very active in protests and the such. Especially now with ICE and that kind of Fascist fuckery..

  3. When you think about it it's troubling and very unsettling, but at some point it's going to be futile to try to escape any of it. Every one of these companies eventually is probably going to do it. So I try to control and cut out as much as I can, I'm seriously considering discontinuing use of Instagram. I've never been on Facebook or Twitter.

    1. It is!
And we may not be able to escape it completely but we can (and should!) minimize the damage. And Insta can be managed if you use it only to look at pretty things and make the algorithm crazy by liking all kinds of different things..... LOL
Facebook and twitter are dens of iniquity.

  5. You said it—nothing online is truly free! It’s wild (and a bit unsettling) to think about just how much data is being collected, even as we type. That Wired video definitely nails it; awareness is half the battle these days.

    1. Nothing, Mr. Shife.
Nothing is free. That Wired video probably just scratched the surface, but they are right: we have got to be aware of what we are putting out there and restrict it as much as possible.

  6. I worry about people who live their lives on their phones or computers, but if they don't see how all their info is being used and sold and spread around like a fourteen year old on Esptein's island, then they aren't thinking at all.

Can you imagine if we had social media when we were teens? CAN YOU IMAGINE?
People give away SO MUCH of themselves online nowadays it's scary.

      XOXO

P.S. points for the Epstein dig.
