Oh, Dear John....
Now, THIS is how you do color.
I think to truly be a maximalist you need a very specific frame of reference. You need to be a collector. And I have to say that he's got fab style. After all, the inspo for the apartment's look is a pair of Louis Vuitton boots. It's not for everybody, but it's a fantastic place.
And that library!
His collection is nothing but fantastic. Is it a lot? Yes. Is it fabulous? Yes. It's a complex man and that implies a home fit for him.
And duh! Of course he’s got a housekeeper. That Tom Ford money should come handy.
XOXO
Sorry, all of this clutter makes me think I'm walking through an over-priced Thrift Shop.
ReplyDeleteOh, it would be a high-end consignment store, not a thrift shop.
DeleteThis man has truly beautiful (and expensive) things. Are they cluttered? Maybe. But they are fabulous and very, very expensive.
XOXO
I enjoy looking at a maximalist home but could never, ever live in one without developing the screaming meemies.
ReplyDeleteSame.
DeleteI would go cray. I think he's got fab taste, but I could never live with a person like that. The beauty of the objects is almost lost in all the over stimuli.
XOXO
I like it; I love the use of color and the design, but there is so much stuff you can't see any one thing to enjoy. That library room is gorgeous, my favorite, but I cannot get beyond on the stuff to enjoy the room.
ReplyDeletexoxo
He's got a fantastic sense of color.
DeleteReally. And I agree there's too much stuff everywhere. It's almost overload.
The library is gorge.
XOXO
Big says,
ReplyDeleteThe library with all the books...that's a good thing. The rest of all that *stuff* would make me crazy. The entirety is a ADD person's dream come true: "Oh, look at the... Oh! no, look over there at... No, wait, that over there... Hold on, waht about...." LOL
XOXO
Agree.
DeleteIf I were to visit, I'd spend all the time in ONE room, listening to the stories and whatnot. I find that fascinating. More than that? I'd have to make periodic visits...
XOXO
Christ, don’t trip and fall in that house ! Too much clutter.
ReplyDeleteThough I must say Mr Demsey has exquisite and eclectic tastes. :)

Hahaha
DeleteAnd the problem is, if one breaks something, it's gonna cost THOUSANDS. Not a rest I'm ready to take...
And he's got FABULOUS taste. Fabulous.
XOXO
Now day to day living... this would be so not me...but love it and would love to explore every nook and cranny. LOVE the color...most of it. But what had me was the door knocker and that scrumptious velvet sectional!!! And I'm not even a sectional person. The place actually reminds me of a high-end antiques store some old queen owns in Lambertville!!
ReplyDeleteI mean this is A LOT! But he does a great example of what I talk about of mixing eccentric pieces, color and texture and collages of "things" to make for a memorable home. This can be done on a smaller scale, and even minimally and still achieve the same "personally created" home. If a home can't reflect your personal style, taste, and tell someone about us, what's the point? I would remember this house over say a boring well pointed cookie cutter home.
I have the same obsession with readers and sunglasses...upward of 35 pairs....and a great taste he has in fragrance. Although, it's not good to keep cologne and perfume exposed to light much...it loses it fragrance, I have a drawer in my bathroom I keep mine in...and keeping more than you can possibly use is not good. Most get "stale" after a year of no use and then can cause skin irritations or rash. I keep mine now down to 4 bottles of colognes, one of which is a Tom Ford. Mr Ford, sure knows how to makes some mood setting fragrances......
He's got a fantastic sense of color.
DeleteAnd shape. He's very tactile, also. And I agree, it does look like a high-end store because he's got some absolutely fabulous (and expensive) stuff. This is not a thrift store.
I agree. Done at a more manageable scale? It would be a dream.
And I only have one bottle of cologne right now. I used to have a backup Burberry but now I cannot find it!
Tom Ford's fragrances! YES!
XOXO
