Oh, visibility, you mean…?
The Trans experience. I think we need to listen more to Trans people. Not everyone experiences Transness the same way, not everyone looks the same, not everyone will fulfill the idea you have of a Trans person. Still, they are Trans.
We have to stand in solidarity with our Trans brothers and sisters because recognition matters. Every day. Didn’t Marsha P. Johnson say something along the lines of no Pride for some of us without liberation for all of us?

ReplyDeleteNow, more than ever, the Trans community needs our support. Practically every day there is new legislation somewhere targeting their existence. Politicians continue to paint them as a bogeyman.

True.
DeleteThey should not feel they are alone in this.
We need to show support.

Trans love! They matter!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!
DeleteNow more than ever.

The Trans community is under such terrible and vicious attacks from all sides right now. The LGBTQ+ community MUST continue to vocally and visibly support "our T's."
ReplyDeleteThey are the new Gay Men.
DeleteThe Right and the bigots will always find a target. The more vulnerable, the better.
XOXO
Truthfully, most people simply don't know when they're talking to a Trans person. They're being victimized by conservatives who need a target.
ReplyDeleteIn most cases, not.
DeleteBut not every Trans person is unclockable. Some people transition later in life or just don't get top and bottom surgery...
And the Right takes advantage of that....

Big says,
ReplyDeleteWhat Dave ^^^ said and what Debra ^^^ said.
Quite honestly, no one should be victimized, yet here we are. All due to the tiny rethuglican pseudo-christian minority. It's enough to make a person cry.

Big also says,
DeleteAnd what a day for the SCOTUS to release their ruling on Conversion Therapy. I really MUST research this one since Kagan and Sotomayor voted with the majority to make it an 8 : 1 decision ***in legalizing the practice*** despite every major professional psychological organization being against it. Stay tuned.

I feel you.
DeleteI think that ruling by SCOTUS is kind of narrow, though. It applies to the bigot in particular, not everybody.... What they want is for us to think all is lost, though...
XOXO
Here's the deal: take people as they ask; treat them with respect. If you don't "get" trans, don't be trans, but be respectful.
ReplyDeleteAnd stand with them, always.
xoxo
Oh you know the bigots do not know the word 'respect'.
DeleteIt's in their brain chemistry to be the worst.

Such a powerful message, together we are stronger. Love will always win.
ReplyDeleteLove is stronger than hate.
DeleteThat's for sure.

It makes me sick when even members of our own community can't even embrace or understand Trans folk. Sad really.
ReplyDeleteTure.
DeleteOur own community forgets who we are and why we are in the position we are now. The gays have a very, very short memory.
