Oh, Danny...!
Here's the thing: when you can actually execute the changes you envision in your house, you're good! But not all of us can do that. Here's an example of someone who dreamed it and had it. Because one can be as greedy as possible when making oneself happy.
BTW Danny said they moved in and were just going to do some wallpapering and then here we are. And thank goodness for that! Those ‘before’ photos… heavens! I love it when we get to see what a place ‘was’ before somebody made it their own.
The good thing is, @Dannysquared gave us the blueprint (quite literally) to make the house of his (our) dreams a reality. Is it easy? No. Is it worth all the work? You be the judge.
XOXO
What a spectacular reno! I shudder to think what it all cost, even with their own labour put into things.
ReplyDeleteIt is fabulous.
DeleteApart from the cost (probably a pretty penny) all the work that went into this is incredible. I hope he's getting traffic to his page and getting some coins...

Oh this is so me. Now, to be fair, I am more into single floor living because stairs as we get older? Not so much. But I might find a spot for a small elevator.
ReplyDeleteI don't think there's one thing I don't like about it. The kitchen, the outside, the new moldings and up-lighting; that skylight?
Yes please,
xoxo
Hahaha
DeleteI don't mind the stairs, but yes, it's something to take into account. I loved the skylight. They're tricky to install and maintain, but soooo fantastic!!!

The old stuff was great! The modern? Not so much. The outdoor living space? Keep in mind that if this is in the UK, summer only lasts for 30 days, if that.
ReplyDeleteI think they managed to get a very good balance between updated and faithful to the house.
DeleteI think some things were just not there anymore due to previous renovations, but I think they did a great job reclaiming some of the old charms. And for what my friends tell me, people in the UK LOVE their outdoor spaces, even for short periods of time...
XOXO
Big says,
ReplyDeleteWell done blending the modern while restoring the Victorian / Edwardian architecture. Love the crown moldings with the lighting. I'm with Bob, though. I'd have to find a place for an elevator.
XOXO
Isn't it true that just crown moldings would add to the fabulous effect?
DeleteLOL yes, and elevator. But I imagine that if they resell at one point, it would be to a young couple/family, so there's that.
XOXO
I agree with Bob. This is me as well. Old and new mixed together. The colors...architectural elements and the touches...10 10 10, 10's across the board!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy only call out? They must not be big professional drinkers. One never keeps a bar with liquor near bright windows. It dulls the strength and weakens the taste. I would have flipped the bar with the plant on the otherside of the fireplace.
But it's lovely.
The colors are fab.
DeleteI love how it all seems fresh yet of the time the house was built? And I think they were going more for effect than for practicality with the liquor. Your flip sounds accurate.
XOXO
I am Sure, it will be worth the wait. The best things always are.
ReplyDeleteThat is correct!
