Spot on, Sixpence. It’s so easy for society to treat Wilde’s era as ancient history, while ignoring how recently—and how intensely—people had to hide their true selves just to survive the workday. Knowing that history is essential if we want to keep moving forward instead of sliding back. A very timely and grounding post.
