Oh, Gay Ace...?

Well, why not?

The thing with being able to both pinpoint and put a name to your feelings and the way your attraction goes is that it is always a plus. Some Queer people feel dreadfully alone when they think they are the only person feeling what they feel. Not everybody has understanding family members or access to sex education or even access to the internet. This becomes especially important if you are part of a group that tends to emphasize the physical aspects of relationships. I know, I know, it may come as a shock, but many men, and gay men in general like to fuck. A lot. Like, to the point that they made rich the people who invented an app that lets them basically get sex Ă  la carte. But there’s some men who just do not have the need to fuck other men, even though they are attracted to them.

So what do Ace gay men do when most people are out to get a quickie using an app that literally scans the horizon for ass and little else? How do they move around in this world? I had the same question.

XOXO

  1. Big says,
ACE :: Asexual :: Solosexual. Whether LGBT or Str8. The sexual attraction (arousal) is there. The desire to physically interact with another person isn't. Or may even be a turn-off. New terminology for what has been around for forever. No?

    1. I believe Solosexual is very masturbatory. Oriented towards the activity. Ace people most times do not feel sexual attraction. At all. Hence the difference between the two...

  3. Spot on about having the language to name what you're experiencing. Navigating a landscape that feels built around instant hookups while being ace must require a ridiculous amount of boundary-setting and communication. Really appreciated this reflection!

    1. I believe it is very important to put a name to what we feel (or do not feel). Some people are made to be 'weird' and they are just being themselves.

Sexuality is far more complex than even the experts know.
