There’s a Will
IMHO Drag is punk rock. And it doesn’t get more punk rock than Willam.
Willam, if you don't know, is one of the many Drag Race alumni who have gone ahead and made a bigger name of themselves after starring in the hit reality series. Willam was notorious for having been the one contestant that had been disqualified from the contest. That was before the sexual predator was casted, of course. Then Willam apparent transgression became more like a prank. So he was out of the contest and went on with his life. And boy did Willam milk that exposure for all it was worth. The second he was out of the show, he had a single ready to go. And he has not stopped to look back.
Willam is certainly what I call a Renaissance Drag Artist. A writer, actor, singer, podcaster and overall prankster, Willam keeps me on stitches every time I run across any of his shenanigans (that he makes sure to document). He's sassy and brassy, but very charming. Blunt? Yes, but girl has the RECEIPTS. He's trashed more than one shady Drag Queen and has got the receipts for EVERYTHING, including Drag Race. I think more than talking shit, Willam tells the truth, even if by telling the truth he gets in trouble. And then there's the style. I find his brand of drag (a combo of very high end pieces -he stomped the runway on RPDR in actual designer clothes- and campy drag) absolutely fantastic and his mix of high-femme/ high-camp/ streetwear is very unique.
Also, if you didn't know, Willam was in A Star Is Born and his bit was so side-splittingly funny that Cooper allegedly let him ad lib during filming. Willam has many talents and you should check his YouTube channel: The Beatdown could be on cable TV. His PMB (Paint Me, Bitch) tutorials -where he basically interviews make up artists and Drag artists while they make him up- are full of wit, jokes and sarcasm (the episode with Mathu Andersen is cannon!) and his Drag Chaser podcast with Alaska (with whom Willam was in a Supremes-style girl group) is absolutely hilarious. Those two are gonna crack you up big time with their high jinks.
Oh, if you are in the mood, he's also got a book. You see, Willam has got you covered. And I co-sign his philosophy of life.
Talk about being multi-talented.
XOXO
He can really work my last nerve, but then he makes me laugh and all is forgiven!
ReplyDeleteHahahaha
DeleteOh, yes. That Willam can do that very well. But bitch is HI-sterycal!
I guess it's part of the charm.
XOXO
He looks too much like Kayleigh MacEnany on a good day.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh the SHADE!
DeleteThe shade of it all! LMAOOOO
Bravo, Dave. You managed to throw masterful shade.
The library is officially closed.
XOXO
Multi-talented super-threat? My goodness. But that book title has got to go. "Suck Less"???? Oh, honey, no! We should all be sucking more...we'd all be a lot happier and in a good mood.
ReplyDeleteOh, wait...she means stop doping nasty things. LOL. XOXO
Yes, very talented.
DeleteAnd Big, if people were to get head more often, the world would be such a better place! LOL
XOXO
I ADORE Willam. Have from the moment that I laid eyes on her... was so disappointed when she got the boot on Drag Race. Pretty much when I stopped watching it! I actually bought tickets to a show downtown Minneapolis, in one of the big theatres to see her ass... she was a no-show (sick - glug, glug?) and someone else had to sub. It was a good show anyway. Check Willam out in Southern Baptist Sissies - the mains story sucks, but Leslie Jordan steals the show. Also The Dead Don't Die in Dallas. I, personally love Willam as trailer park trash. She never disappoints.
ReplyDeleteShe's magnetic.
DeleteShe got the boot cause she broke the rules, though. She talks in the book about it. They kind of glossed over it in RPDR but there's TEA.
Ooohh so she did do that, huh? Her act where she wanders around on a motorized longboard in a beautiful dress while reading everybody? Priceless.
OMG, Upton. Southern Baptist Sissies is a riot (Leslie Jordan is genius) . I have not seen Die in Dallas, though. I'll look it up.
And if you have Netflix, try Eastenders. It was a web series and Netflix picked it up. Willam is there, too! And I think she was nominated for an award for that.
XOXO
I can remember when he was on Nip Tuck way before Drag Race was on. He played the part of Cherry and dated Sean's son. And I adored the group DWV, with Detox and Vicky Vox. They should never have ended!!!!!!!! I saw then a couple times when out in Cali. They were too much. I too love Willam...but I'll be damned I'd use her make brushes, or stay a night in that dump!!!!! Bwahahahaha! And what's that bitch doing with a pair of Crocs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWillam. you have some splaing to do.
I know, right?
DeleteHe did do acting before RPDR and he let them all know it, in true Willam style. And OMG The Boy is a Bottom is hilarious. He later got with Courtney Act and Alaska and was in another group, right?
And bitch does have a chaotic energy. I would not trust those brushes, either. LMAOOO
And I just KNEW you'd read her for filth for those crocs! HAHAHAHA
They're designer, though. Balenciaga, I believe. Bitch is the queen of High-Low.
XOXO
She did have a group, which last very briefly with Courtney and Alaska. But I think the vibe was off. The interaction of the three was no near what she had with Detox and Vicky.
DeleteI may have to agree with you. That first 'girl' group was fantastic.
DeleteXOXO
Willam must have been on Drag Race before I started watching the series because, alas, I don't know him or his work. Thanks for the intro!
ReplyDeleteYes!
DeleteShe was in season four, I think. Sharon Needles won.
It was an awesome season. Sharon and PhiPhi had the epic 'Go back to Party City' exchange. If you can stream it, do it! It's worth it!
XOXO
#1 gif made me smile!
ReplyDeleteLOL
DeleteAnd that's Willam, to you!
XOXO
