Comfy Euro-hippy

When we talk about 'home', we usually talk about the place where we find ourselves being more comfortable, more 'ourselves'. And I think that that feeling has nothing to do with luxury. I think like Mykki, that many people who travel a lot are used to the luxury of hotels and all that, but I feel foreign in a hotel room (I've never rented an AirBNB, btw) and really like the feeling of having a pied-à-terre. I really like having my own place. A space where I can have my plants, and my books, and my tchotchkes.

And I don't mind having a smaller space, I'm used to apartments. It's funny how what some would consider a small space can feel so... homey. I like spending time taking care of my plants and having my projects laying around, even though I do have to have them in a specific place. I don't like the feeling of chaos. But I really like Mykki's space. It feels and looks like someone LIVES there and that the person likes to live there. It looks like home.

When we create our own space, I feel we can be more creative, more aware. The things we put up or have there are meaningful to us, they feed both our creativity and our well being. As Mikky says, "like energy is responding to and attracting like energy". We all should live in our Happy Place.

XOXO

P.S. Yay for plants! I also like to rescue plants!!

    1. Oh, I enjoy going places but after a week I wanna go home!
You have no idea the number of times I've missed my own bed...

  2. I used to travel for work. A lot. While I enjoyed it because I got to see so many different cities, and I explored as much as time would allow, getting "home" was always a pleasure. Small spaces are okay for me for a while...but I need high ceilings or I begin to feel closed in. Weird, huh? xoxo

    1. I travel (or traveled) for work only a few times a year.
I enjoyed it, mostly because I usually stole some time from the talks and workshops to go play tourist.
And you'd feel enclosed at my place! LOL Remember I live in a basement and my ceilings are low...

    2. I'd be able to spend a little time down there. A couple hours. Extend that time if I'm totally preoccupied. LOL. XOXO

  3. Yes. Our happy place! My place is very small and I feel safe there. I also am constantly looking at the things I have chosen to populate my place... and I do draw positive energy from them. Good for you for rescuing plants. I am not good with house plants. I think it takes a special person to do that. Outside? No problem gardening. But inside stuff... I will leave that to those of you with the gift.

My place could be considered small by some. I think it's perfect for me. And isn't it true that those objects we surround ourselves with give us good Juju? I love that.
LOL and yes, I've been known to rescue plants. It happens!

    3. Oh, tell me about it.
I have friends that are constantly on the move, doing cruises and the such. I don't think they stay in one place long enough to enjoy it, though....

  5. Fabulous video! What a cute guy and couple. I've been hearing about Portugal being the new hot spot for LGBT travel. I've never been. I have traveled to Europe a lot, mostly work related and then throw in a couple of days to site-see/play at the end. I dislike the 'act' of travel, but once at my destination I have a great time.
NO plants in the house! I don't even like cut flowers. NO!
My cottage is decorated, "Shabby Gay White Trash". lol

Two of my friends have been to Portugal and they SWEAR by it. Old World charm and very progressive.
Like you, the 'act' of traveling is such a chore!
      And Jimmy, you need flowers!
Shabby Gay White Trash Chic is the name of my rock band.

  6. I LOVE my little pied de terre....but I have no problem traveling and staying in boutique hotels and beach houses. I could get used to the service, appointments and amenities very easily. Hell, for that matter I was very hard pressed to get off the Orient Express last summer. I was just remembering that trip yesterday.

I know you're quite the traveler. I wish I had your savoir faire when it comes to trips. I'm clumsy and I hate the hassle.
Your Orient Express adventure was glorious!!

  7. I have lots of plants, and big dogs, and large furniture, and a new big fish tank, and 10 foot ceilings in my house, so I guess I'd have to say I prefer things that are sizable.

    1. Dave, you're a size queen.
My ceilings are seven feet high. Remember I live in a basement. You'd feel enclosed.

  8. I do like having my own place. A place for everything and everything in its place. However no house plants. The cats eat them then throw up. I am, however, home decor challenged. I’d have to have you come over and tell me what I like.
