Remember the Time

Some people have dismissed LilNasX's influence. And I understand. It's just another rapper doing rap, right? Well, maybe not. That's just the surface.

*ANDREAGROSSI Cinderella realness.

*thanks, BillyPorter!

Yeah. He did that. And then he took on the haters:

LILNASX

Remember this performance took place on BET. During Prime time. During an awards show. Also, remember how kissing one of his band members almost cost Adam Lambert his career a few years back. Yeah, not just 'another rapper'.

And that's how you close Pride, kids.

XOXO

P.S. I loved the inspo!

  1. Nas is making the most of this and I applaud him for it. He’s hot, he has an audience, and he’s bringing the message to the forefront.

And he seems to be smart and will take on the haters. More power to him.

    1. Oh, he's milking it for all it's worth. And I applaud that. At the same time, he's telling his truth and living his best life. Bravo.
Very few can do that in show business.

  2. I like Lil Nas X's in-your-face style! Long may he flaunt . . . well, everything! On another front, I hear Queen Latifah finally "officially" came out at the BET Awards too while receiving a lifetime achievement award. She was in a glass closet for years, of course, but still it's nice to see she feels free enough at last to publicly acknowledge her partner and son.

    1. Yes! His not giving a fuck and being an out, proud and hot black queer man in Rap? It is groundbreaking. Little Richard would be very pleased. And Yes, Queen Latifah (at last!) thanked her woman. It took some time, but here we are.

  3. His music and rap, are not my cup of tea....I think Cardi B, Lil Kim and some Heavy D are about all the rap I can take...and even then very little of them. I LOVE his style though!!!!!! But if Lil Nas X is in my bed, making crumbs, eating, I wouldn't kick him out of bed. Thats said , trust me, he wouldn't be eating...he'd be busy with other things.

FYI. I have a suspecting feeling he's has a big slab of meat too.

    1. How many licks?
Love me some Lil Kim. And his style is fantastic. He knows what he wants to say and brings a very sharp sensibility to every outing. He may be young, but he knows what he wants. And he's hot.
And I agree with you. That boy is packing. He gives me BDE.

  4. Ha! I didn't think I'd like his music. I was wrong. I've enjoyed everything I've seen/heard. But, I don't think it's Rap...it feels more like Hip-Hop. The vast majority of Rap makes me crazy. 😁 Ah, little Michael...so sad. XOXO

    1. It's very catchy and witty!
And it is hip-hop. More danceable and with much more rhythm.
And the Michael homage was really cool. It probably went over a whole generation's head, though.

  5. I am not a fan of his music, not really my thing, but I am a huge fan of him, as a gay man of color, being out and proud and LOUD!!!

    1. Absolutely.
He's a mood and he's the moment. Representation, am I right? You know there's queer kids of color watching. And knowing that they're not alone.

  6. Way to go, Lil Nas X. Good for him. I hope he continues to do what he is doing.

    1. I know, right?
He's being quite successful and his being unabashedly queer is not really affecting his popularity. I heard his song on the radio just the other day. I pumped up the volume right away.

  7. Wow. There it is. The backlash. F 'em. Nas is one big talent. He is not a flash in the pan. He makes Kanye West look like the amateur he truly is. I adore this man and can't believe people are giving him shit. F 'em. Man. We finally get a male Lady Gaga and they want to piss on his fire? That is so wrong. And they can all take their antiquated ideas about masculine and feminine and shove it up their uptight puckered holes. F' the haters. Love the Nas. Kizzes.

    1. Oh, the haters came out in droves.
But so did the fans. And I think that it is because he's talented. I think Kanye West is overhyped. And I like your Lady Gaga comparison. Yeah, it's the same glam, dazzling visuals and incredible style.
He's challenging many outdated ideas and being successful while doing it. One tweet at a time. He knows how to work social media. He has grown up with it.
      Fuck the haters is right.

      XOXO
