I really like this house. I guess I'm into smaller, more compact houses than most people. I cannot believe they did most everything themselves, though. That's a huge undertaking, but I imagine that if you have the know-how and the time (and love micromanaging your reno) then it's a good fit. Also, I learned that Ikea can come very handy sometimes.
I can see in their 'before' pics that the house was of course a mess. I love when people let us into the 'before' because then you can see their vision. Take for example the doorbell or what he says about the staircase. You do need to pay attention to details to do that or see the diamond in the raw.
The ingenuity and the resourcefulness they display is incredible. The use of space is also really smart. It's not a big house, but I don't think many Victorians were huge to begin with. The MacMansion is a recent invention. The story of the floor and the ceiling left me amazed. Same with the kitchen and bathroom. I would not know where to start, of course.
Their crafty imagination goes beyond the house. The way they transformed their backyard was also super cool. It took them awhile, but I think it's totally worth it. They have more projects coming up and you can check their Insta for updates.

Ok a couple of things: First - IKEA, IKEA, IKEA, you’ve gotta be in heaven. It’s cool the way they bought items and added little details to make them work for them. Second: I could NEVER put that much work into a place and then just turn around and sell it. You are basically personalizing the space to your taste and vision, actually putting in your blood, sweat and tears. Then just pack it all up and go? Not a life for me. But I guess that is what they do and how they make a living (partial living?). I know that in some of these situations one person holds a regular job and the other devotes their time to the renovations. This would be super stressful for me.
ReplyDeleteAll in all, it is a very cozy, beautiful job, inside and out.
XOXO 👨🏼❤️💋👨🏽
Hahaha
DeleteYes, I thought it was very smart that they would include some hacks using Ikea. Super smart. And I think maybe someone made them an offer and they accepted it. I don't think they were flipping that house.
But I agree this would be super stressful for me, too. Living in the controlled chaos of a house in state of remodeling for months and months and moths could be harsh.
But they did do a great job.
XOXO
Huh.... A lot of work went into that place. Nice job. The only curious thing for me is that entry closet. The before photo it appears that hallway originally extended all the way back to the kitchen. Which would've been very typical of a Victorian, and I would've done that. Now, they're on the hunt for the next house to reno. Ah, youth!! LOL. XOXO
ReplyDeleteYes, a lot of work. That's for sure.
DeleteAnd I think they mention that the hallway just ended there and they built the closet to make it useful? I'm not sure if it went all the way to the kitchen.
And I think they got another Victorian! LOL
XOXO
He (or they) got a new follower on IG! love he walks barefoot!!!
ReplyDeleteTheir Insta is super cute. They show there the new house they got .
DeleteXOXO
I took a look there. Soo nice couple!
DeleteThe stenciled floor was fabulous!
ReplyDeleteWasn't that fantastic?
DeleteSuch a smart idea. I think they mention the floor was in very bad condition, so it was a great solution.
XOXO
They did a nice job. Let me repeat Huntley... Ikea, Ikea, Ikea. That's a nice way to say inexpensive. The only thing I didn't like? That doll house.
ReplyDeleteI think the Ikea hacks were very well done.
DeleteI actually want that shoe storage unit they have in the entryway for the same reason they got it.
Hahaha that dollhouse was HUGE!
It's pretty though...

O.K. I was startled when he got to the non-finished kitchen and announced
ReplyDeletethey had sold the house, were living with their families (!) and looking for
the next project. I had not realized they flipped houses and moved on (even
when they hadn't finished.) Quite a surprise and made sense of the Ikea, Ikea,
Idea! cutting corners .
Same!
DeleteI think he said that it was organized and in the process of finishing the decor when they sold the house. I think they got an offer they could not refuse and sold it.
And people hack into Ikea furniture all the time. LOL it's a staple at this point.
I think it was smart to use reclaimed and Ikea products throughout the house.
XOXO
Yeah, it's totally a solid house. I like what I see. 👍🏻🙂
ReplyDeleteI thought so too!
DeleteI think they did a great job. Very quaint, cute house.

They did a beautiful reno job but I can't imagine living in the house while they redid it. Utter chaos all the time! And then just to sell it and start all over again! Not a lifestyle for me, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteDebra says it best: Not a lifestyle for me!
DeleteI lived through a kitchen and bathroom renovation and it was NOT pretty.
DeleteWould not repeat. And I think they thought they were going to live there, but got an offer and sold it. They never go into the details, but it seems it took them by surprise, too (they were working on that summer kitchen). Very few people live in the houses they flip, they usually flip and sell it in the shortest amount of time to avoid paying the mortgage.
And same. Flipping houses is way too much work.
XOXO
Very clever. And yes, I like the small space and the fact they went with light colors - lots of white. It makes everything better. I don't know that I would allow some of the things they have to take up so much space, but to each their own. Very clever with storage ideas. Thanks. They are a cute couple and so young to have made such an investment. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteI think the space is great for two people and the light colors open up all the spaces.
DeleteAnd they did make some choices (as Dave said, that dollhouse!) that I would have not made, but hey.
And I think they may have made a substantial profit when they sold that house. Smart.
