Greenwich Village
I love Jeremiah and Nate. They are one of my OTPs and I love their sense of style. And I thought it would be interesting to juxtapose their house (and design style) to the places we've seen lately here on the blog. For one, it's a much more distilled and precise view of what home decor means and also, it's a showcase of what good taste and money can get you. For those who like space, here's one for you. I do not know how big this one is, but it's bigger than some of the places we have seen here.
I know Upton calls this Home Porn? Decor Porn? (I like it when Upton baptizes things) but I just love seeing how these men live. It's inspo and a little bit of hot goss. Inspo because even when we do not intend it, there are things in other people's houses we really like and end up adapting them to our own spaces. I also like these videos because it feels like we have been invited to a place we've never been to and that is not a place like our friends' or our own. And I love having people telling me details about their homes when I visit. Everybody's got a cool/interesting story to tell about their abodes.
Now can you imagine what you could get if you and your husband would both work with renovations and design? Well, here you can see how their styles came together (which is something I'd love to have in my place if I lived with someone) and the look and feel a living space would have if someone who knows what they're doing would have a hand in it. They DO know what they're doing (Maddie would probably be with me here) and their design decisions are smart and well thought. And they look GOOD. Sometimes there's things I would not do (I like comfy furniture, like in their family room) but some things? I'd go for it in a second.
If you know me, you know I can't really cook. But in this kitchen? Holy shit. I'd take a cooking course just so I can use this fab space. I also love the family room, because it looks like you could relax there. But I really, really like their bedroom. It's comfy, spacious, serene and the wallpaper (I'm not for wallpaper, but really!) is fab. A total mood. And all the space they have? This is when I could understand some people's desire for space in their homes. That bedroom is bigger than most apartments I lived in when I was in college.
And those closets? I'd probably faint. THAT'S the life. That's what money can give you. And I cackled with the 'I have shoes older than...' joke. I can relate. I really think that one of the things that having money provides is the capacity to have beautiful things AND the time to enjoy them. Time is something that money CAN buy. That's what I think we kind of feel we want when we talk about 'having money': it's not the capacity to buy outrageous things, but the time that we would have to enjoy them leisurely. Time is very, very expensive.
Oh, I also love the his/his bathroom, btw. I like the intimacy of both of us shaving in the morning. It's a mood. Yes. Sometimes domesticity can be pretty, too.
XOXO
I liked when the kitchen was black, though I get their point of light and airy. Sometimes it feels a bit fussy even when they're trying hard not to be.
ReplyDeleteBut it's purty.
OMG same! But I really like this one, with all that light!
DeleteAnd I like their banter. Jeremiah is basically me.
XOXO
I can't cook, nor can I decorate. Sadly, I don't have the money to pay someone to decorate for me. The best I can do is mimic!! And I can't wait to find a condo to do just that.
ReplyDeleteOh, babes. Join the club.
DeleteAnd that's why I like these house tours so much: they show me what can be done and then I do my own version at home. Is that 'decorating'? No. But I like to think it is.
And when you get your condo, you have to show us!!
XOXO
Did you hear me laughing when he said, "this is the formal living, and the children are welcome here?" That says a lot about their family life. Also, neon belongs in signs outside liquor stores, and bars, and film noir nightclubs, not in a house.
ReplyDeleteOh, honey. That says a lot about good parenting and establishing boundaries. Children and pets have their place in a house and they need to learn that. And neon signs rule. I would love to have one or two, but alas, don't have the money.
DeleteMaybe when I win the lotto. But then I'll have to BUY a lotto ticket...
XOXO
Amazing! How many square feet is that place? I think their bed may actually be bigger than my entire apartment. How nice to have the talent and MONEY that it must take to do a home like that.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea how big it is, but it's bigger than most of the spaces I've posted here. It's a full-fledged house (well, there's also four people there, so...)
DeleteTheir bedroom alone is probably my bedroom, sitting room and dining room together LOL.
And I agree with you, it would be nice...

ReplyDeleteWhen you have the money and the vision to create these spaces the results can either be stunning or a total disaster (in some people’s eyes). I think they’ve done a good job. I like the airiness of many of the rooms, especially that gorgeous kitchen. I’m glad they let the kids have a say in their spaces, though I’m not a fan of the glass doors in the kids bedrooms.
XOXO 👨🏼❤️💋👨🏽
I think they've done a fantastic job of joining their styles and tastes to create a very inviting yet stylish place. You KNOW they have taste and money when they blur some of their artwork because it's probably an original of somebody very well known.
DeleteIsn't if awesome how everything feels uncluttered and spacious? Of course they have the square footage, but still... And the kids helping create their own spaces is awesome. I didn't have my own room until I turned 13...
XOXO
I liked all their lamps and light fixtures -- some very unique and cool ones. Plus I loved the more colourful kids' rooms.
ReplyDeleteOh, the accessories are to die for.
DeleteThe attention to detail (and the obvious good taste) are always present. The kid's rooms are fantastic and can grow with them.
Love.
XOXO
Where are the staff areas and quarters?
ReplyDeleteHahaha
DeleteYou've been watching too much Downton Abbey!!
XOXO
Big says,
ReplyDeleteLove those two. I think I preferred the previous design, though. This feels...busy. But there are elements I love. The neon sign, the kitchen - OMG. I could live in that kitchen. The closet...someone has a shoe fetish. 🤣 Wild that they chose pedestal sinks for the bath, though. XOXO
Same!
DeleteThey are adorable and oh so pretty. And I also liked the previous incarnation of the house, but this is an update I can appreciate. I also loved the neon sign and the kitchen (for someone who does not cook, I like pretty kitchens). And those SHOES! A man after my own heart.
And pedestal sinks can be used when you have all of that square footage, for sure!
XOXO
nice home and nice couple!!!
ReplyDeleteTotally!
DeleteThe house is a dream. Because I don't have kids (or plan to have them) I'd use those two rooms as guest room and office.
XOXO
You are killing me. And... you should see me 'baptize' ummm... things. It's not as hot as when I was 16, but... it did impress a young man down in Fort Lauderdale last weekend. :) These two are too much... peas in a pod, indeed. How fun is that? I'm glad they are happy and in love. They do break one hard rule I have when living with another... separate bathrooms. Always. I don't need an audience for some of the things I have to do in order to put it all together in the morning and evening. But then, that's why I live alone (more or less) four days a week. Thanks for the shout out. Adore. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteOh, I can imagine you at 16! LOL
DeleteAnd they are adorable, go on, accept it. And I do like the his/his sinks. I've have super fun convos with my men while we are both shaving.
And you'll have to write about your ten-step beauty routine! I wanna know!!!
XOXO
