Oh, Mr. Mac...
So what if people in your own home state would scrub you from a lineup because they feel you're... too gay?
@AdamMac posted on TikTok Sept. 21 about pulling out of the Tobacco Festival in his hometown of Russellville, Kentucky, after he reportedly received a phone call from someone on the festival’s board. He stated in a social media post that the person told him that “there were some board members and some people in town who had some questions about what kind of performance I would be putting on at the Tobacco Festival. She wanted to ensure that I would not be promoting homosexuality or sexuality in a family friendly environment.”
Mac has been around for awhile and was the headliner (I don't follow country music, but according to his YouTube channel, there's videos going back several years) and just NOW they force him out of a lineup because he may be 'promoting homosexuality'? The Fuck?
Well, it's Kentucky, so that's hellhole for you (yes, Virginia, it is a hellhole). But seriously, people?? I am so happy @AdamMac is calling himself "Your musical, mystical, spiritual guide through the wild world of homosexuality. 🌈".
Good for him! And shame on the idiots in Kentucky. I hope this gives Adam Mac a ton of visibility. It made me notice. And I don't even like country music!!
XOXO
P.S. and it's not just Kentucky. They're coming for your picket fence, honey...
Nearly eight years after the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage and several months after Congress codified gay nuptials, Iowa legislators proposed banning such unions in their state constitution.
“In accordance with the laws of nature and nature’s God, the state of Iowa recognizes the definition of marriage to be the solemnized union between one human biological male and one human biological female,” says the joint resolution, introduced Tuesday by eight Republican members of the state House.
Good for him, and then on the other side of the coin...it's the fucking Kentucky and the Mid West...I wouldn't have even wasted my time even considered going there. There are far more places he'd be welcomed and enjoy for his talents.
ReplyDeleteA friend wanted to drive cross country once and I said fuck that. I 'll fly to the coast and bypass the waste land in the middle and meet you there. It might be pretty but I'm not risking it if I'm on edge.
I know!
DeleteThing is, he IS from Kentucky, so he grew up around this mindset. It's also Country Music, so...
And I'm with you about driving cross country. I'd never drive through the fucking Bible Belt.
LOL @ wasteland in the middle! Get 'em Mads!!
XOXO
He shouldn't have pulled out. Was the phone call threatening? The last thing we should do is cave into these bastards.
ReplyDeleteOh, it WAS.
DeleteApparently they told him that they did not have metal detectors at the entry of the concert (KENTUCKY!!) and that they could not warranty his safety. Can you imagine?
XOXO
I'd have done the show and performed my songs and collected my check.
ReplyDeleteWe need to stand up. If the promoters canceled his show, then sue them for breach of contact and make them say it was because of "promoting the homosexual lifestyle."
xoxo
Same.
DeleteThe thing is that there were threats, and the concert organizers said they could not protect him. It's fucking Kentucky. They have pertmitless and concealed carry. They could have killed him.
The breach of contract? I would have gone for that.
XOXO
Right, because it's not HIS fault Kenfucky is a gun-toting homophobic cesspool.
DeleteSeriously!
DeleteI wonder the legal implications of them having cancelled his gig...
XOXO
HuntleyBiGuy:
ReplyDeleteI’m with Dave and Bob on this one. Collect the paycheck and make a donation to the Trevor Project or other causes. Make your closing set as FABULOUS as possible.
XOXO 👨🏼❤️💋👨🏽
Right.
DeleteBut the organizers could not control who went to the concert with a concealed weapon an he could have been killed and nobody would have been held responsible. He's from Kentucky. He knows when to back down.
Homophobes are just waiting for an opportunity, babes.
XOXO
The crowd at the Tobacco Festival would have benefitted from hearing his song "A Boy Like Me," I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteOh, please!
DeleteThe whole state would have benefitted. The homophobia. It's toxic.
XOXO
he looks like Sam Smith, imho.
ReplyDeleteHahaha
DeleteMaybe? I like Sam Smith better, though. I like 'em like compact.
XOXO
both of them so cute!
DeleteBig says,
ReplyDeleteIt's Kentucky. If it's his hometown, he knows the attitude. He should've done the show, collected the money, donated it, and then moved the hell out of that shithole town.
Huh, Iowa, eh? About to challenge same sex marriages / unions? What another big surprise. "Land of the free" --- as long as it's "THEIR kind of free."
XOXO
Oh yes!
DeleteHe does. That's why he decided to not do it. He knew they could kill me. It's a pertmitless, concealed-carry state. And I'm sure he's there cause he does Country Music. It's where he can make a livelihood.
And you know the Repugs are gonna keep trying in every state...
XOXO
