Oh, Brian....

Renovations. I cannot even think about the word because I get dizzy. But getting your house just as you want it? Priceless.

This house is lovely. I like most everything, from the colors, to the quirky details to the actual house (a sixties little jewel). I'm not sure about the white details with a new baby, but hey... I especially liked the entryway (inspo!!) and the use of colors to bring out moods. I do not agree with the idea of a TV in every room of the house (I refuse to put one in my bedroom) but to each their own. And I love the skylights.

My one qualm? You'll know what it is the second you see it.

XOXO

  1. First off, I find him annoying, and I'll leave that there.
I loathe the white floors because they stopped being clean the minute they were installed.
I don't like a TV in every room; havea FVCKING TV ROOM!
I do like the entry and the use of art because that's how we did our house; the art is all very personal and has a specific story about where we got it and what it means, so I like that.
    I LOVELOVELOVE the black exterior.
I am over arches; it's enough. Midcentury modern is clean lines and curved lines don't read clean to me ... and I don't mean clean as in cleanliness but as in simplicity.
I love the windows to the woods.
I could go on ... the nursery is too precious. And I cannot think of your one qualm. I'ma need a hint.
    xoxo

    1. I did see a few pieces of art on the floor leaning. It might be that. I told Six I did that and he was going to spank me. So its either that or that he's dressed, not sure which Bob.

  2. I loved it!!!!!!! I absolutely loved the addition of those designer screens between rooms.. Genuis! Not only letting light in, but also gives the appearances of two rooms. I don't mind all the white because it allows his colors of furniture and art to speak for itself. And you know I LOVE LOVE LOVED his wall collages and what taste in mirrors. I'm ready to move in! I like that he was barefooted too. That's so me the minute I get home. And like you I hate tv's in every room. I don't even like seeing them in the living room. I like mine in armoires or console, so I can shut the door on them and their hidden.

Not sure what qualm you had...but if your like me it was because he was dressed and not on the bed naked getting railed. I volunteer!!!!

    2. I think that house is stunning.
I loved most everything. This is the way I'd do colors: with a neutral background, so they shine. His wall collages were everything. Nice taste. And you are right, I was picturing him naked. Yes.

  3. Hated it. Too white. Definitely not a home for pets. Chrome mushroom lamps were not a thing in the 60s, that was a lie. The ceiling in the nursery is horrid. One of my friends is 6'6" and another is 6'4" and neither had a problem getting a sofa that fit. And I don't doubt that he's barefooted because it's part of his pretentious schtick.

    1. The only thing that bugged me was the white floors.
It's the only place where white must go sparingly. I loved that nursery and the ceiling. Character.
And you are right, the mushrooms lamps were more of a seventies fixture, TBH.
I wanna go to a party with you and your friends, Dave...

  4. Big says,
I hated his interior for the HGTV Dream Home. Thought it was awful. That said, I love me some mid-century. Oh, yes, I do. The all stark-white walls and ceilings are perfect because the art should being the color. But his walls are too busy with it. I'm with you: a TV in every room? No. Just, no. Bob's right that those arched screens do not mesh with the mid-century - plus it breaks up the open space he created by tearing out the walls in the first place. Your one qualm? The gleaming cabinets, maybe? 🤷‍♂️ XOXO

    1. Oh, I had to google that HGTV Dream Home.
I only liked the tween bedroom and the guest bedroom. The rest was too suburban-mom-buying-shit-at-Home Goods for my taste. It was not suppossed to be cookie cutter but it was. It was a slight fail. Some very pretty wall paint color, though.
I agree with the white walls and the artwork. I could NOT deal with the white floors. I would have a heart attack.

    HuntleyBiGuy:
Ok, so how DO you open them damn cabinets? Not a fan of the white floors, like Bob said. And I agree with Dave on the nursery ceiling. But having white walls throughout seems to work, as Big said, the plethora of artwork brings the color. I also like the mosaic around the fireplace.

      Again the cabinets, babes?
And you know me. The white floors would kill my soul. And I liked the detail of the nursery ceiling. Actually the nursery was my fav room.

  6. That entry way is the art gallery from hell. I think I would lose my equilibrium walking through it. Too much is too much. I like some of his pieces. Can't imagine living with him. Or those floors. He seems very anal. Given that... Weird he couldn't bother to shave. To each their own.

    1. I loved the entry, Upton! Bright, telling, daring.
The floors are indeed very anal. I could not take them for a day. I'd be on my knees with a Mr. Big white eraser 12/7.
And I liked the scrub. I actually dated someone who looks like him. Maybe that's why I posted this video. Well, that and that I love the house overall...

      XOXO
