Oh, A Drag Queen Adventure Story?

People have MANY opinions when it comes to Drag. And people have MANY opinions when it comes to RuPaul’s Drag Race. One thing that most people agree, though, it’s that the Dolls can use that platform to take a leap and become stars on their own right. RPDR has also brought an art form that was relegated to lazy Thursday nights at the bar into the limelight, so there's that. One thing is what you're given. Another very different is what you do with that...

And you know that THAT is something that the bigots cannot take: they want the Queers shoved to the back corner of a dark, stinky closet. And YouTube has proved to be a fantastic media for many a Drag artist (both the Dolls that have gone through RPDR and Queer people of all stripes) to show their art to the world. Just look at this video that YouTube is using to promote, well… Drag artists.

Oh, and I just KNOW that Mads is gonna send Lady Bunny this video!

P.S. Trixie explains what YouTube is for Queer Creators:

Why is YouTube important to you as a platform?
I love the freedom of it. I love just sitting in my house and coming up with an idea for a video and then stepping in and screaming. It’s everything I love about TV without all the emails. We just get an idea, do it, have fun with it, and release it. So much of TV and so much of film is waiting for 10 straight white guys above you to sign a piece of paper saying you can do this. On YouTube, there’s so much freedom. You can just get a dumb idea as an independent artist and go make it today. It’s just our TV station.

P.P.S: Happy Pride!!

  1. Fun video! First time I've seen Juno Birch -- love her! And given that we just had the 80th anniversary of D-Day, love her drag name's play on Juno Beach, where the Canadian forces landed.

Welcome back babe! And Dave gets blamed again!

This was a great history tutorial. It’s amazing how much the medium has progressed. YouTube has been a haven for the queer community and helps those that are in the closet experience drag in the comfort and safety of their own home.

    1. Haha he does!
And it was great. Youtube is a great resource for Queer creators (when they don't get demonetized) but at least the gaylings have a place to go to find info.

  6. What a wonderful history. I am so glad such things exist... there all these pockets of gay history that need to be recorded... acknowledged. I will know we've arrived when Lester Holt closes out a night on NBC in June saluting the queens who rioted at Stonewall.

    1. Same!
There are so many parts of Gay History that need to be known! Gay men under thirty have no idea what happened before 2000. None.
And I think we're gonna have to wait for Lester to wake up!

      XOXO
