Oh, Matt and Beau...?

You know how much I love a before/after journey. It gives me an idea of where the homeowners are coming from and also inspo for life! I love seeing their vision come to reality. Vicarious experiences are my mood. Also, this is a very attractive couple. Win/win.

I love New Orleans, really. I don't like the South in general, but this city is so full of character, that I can't help but like it. In this house, I love the combo of new and old in this place and how they kind of reversed the remodel somebody did to the house and went back to the original Victorian style of the house with some cool updated touches. An old house can indeed have a second life.

One cool thing (that I would recommend to anybody living with someone) is that they shared decorating duties and took different rooms to work on. You can see they’re in sync. Also, they made the kitchen the main space in their house and I kind of live for that!

XOXO

P.S. their blog @probablythis is adorable!

  1. The mauve-y pink is not my favorite, but all the original details and old brick are wonderful.
That study? Yes, please. I could live in there.
And I also like seeing what it was and then seeing it now.

    1. I actually like that color!
And the details in that house! It's one of the things I like about old houses: they have character.

    HuntleyBiGuy:
What a renovation! What the previous owners did was a sin, but doing something right takes money and time. I love the architectural details and the way the arch frames the kitchen. That kitchen is to die for!

I can only imagine what having everything covered in coal dust does to your vibe. You just have to grin and bear it.

    1. People do awful reno works. I've seen some pretty clumsy ones.
And that house was pretty. I'm glad they restored it.

  3. Ok this caught me off guard. First I loved the house.... and have seen it before as I'm follow them on Instagram, and I have perused the blog before. But when I saw the video, I'm like, wait a minute...they look familiar. It finally hit me I was talking to them a few summers back up in Ptown. They were so nice and welcoming and very fun. Thats when I started following them and reading their blog. Never mind I couldn't take my eyes off their nice full baskets. Had they wanted, I would have been back in their room quicker than you can say Chi Town for a threesome.

Their house is fab. Love everything about it. And they ARE quite attractive. Oh, I would have learned to say ChiTown in Russian to watch that threesome, Mads...

  6. Big says,
restoring it back to (mostly) its original architectural design is commendable. Touches of wallpaper (though period used a lot) are fine --- but, again with the trendy on the ceiling? No. Just, no. The medallions are perfect, though, if you're going period. The kitchen is great because it's functional, but the pink would grate on me after a while.

I know! I cannot understand the wallpaper on the ceiling. It should be absolutely nightmarish to install. Love the kitchen.

  7. They can keep the peachy, coral, pinky color scheme. The study had a decent color, but it wasn't cozy. And their favorite piece of art? Why would anyone paint such a hideous picture of a dog?

    1. Love that color scheme.
At least it's not the color of the year. I like the dog painting! Very interesting use of color and shape.

  8. Nicely done, Matt and Beau. However, I am going to pass on New Orleans as I would need a place that is a little less humid and fewer religious nut jobs.

I think New Orleans is very beautiful but the fuckery of the South would not let me live there.

  9. That floral wallpaper. SMH. Oh, jeez. Nope. I do like some of the house and they seem sweet... but we don't have to become our grandmothers. Oh, jeez. Umm. Kizzes?

Well, I'll have to agree there. Wallpapers are difficult. But they did a great job with the house.
