Oh yes. Clothes.
All in a day's work. Because in the XIV century, if you were not rich, you'd probably be doing what this man was doing. Simple, right? But there were four styles of underdrawers! The belt was practical and fashionable. Also, linen was king. And as always, clothes maketh the man.
Just thank the Goddess you did not have anything to plough in January in England around 1340...

ReplyDeleteAgriculture was and continues to be a hard life. Left to the vagaries of the weather and markets, and still beholden to the “man.” The clothes are designed for hard labor and functionality.
