Oh, Norm and Dale..!
I guess this is how you do it. I kind of would feel responsible for updating a house like this, with all the cultural baggage that living in a house built/designed by such a well known architect would entail. Imagine if you just go ahead and fuck it all up?
I think they did a fantastic job. They managed to make this house feel like a home. The way they use art is outstanding and the house looks well appointed (most of that art must be expensive!) but at the same time it looks like someone lives there and uses the spaces. It’s not a McMansion (none of his houses were, of course) but it feels like it breathes. Good design is priceless. I’d shank a bitch to get an invite to go to a dinner party there.
Also, aren’t they adorable? They are gentlemen of a certain age, and I bet they have tales to tell. But above all, it feels like they are very proud of the house they’ve help revive (it was in a sorry state). And they should be. The place is fab.
XOXO
The inside is STUNNING even though it feels like they are living in a museum. Feel very museum like, with the design elements and built ins. But they did a good job making it feel warm with the interior design part, and the color. This could have went very wrong and felt cold and clinical. But the exterior? HORDID. To fortress looking. Looks cold, and reminds me of a mausoleum in Philly I saw once.
ReplyDeleteIt’s stunning and they did a beautiful job upgrading and enhancing. However, it looks quite like a museum to me. Also, I don’t think I’d like to spend much time with these guys.
ReplyDeleteMaddie's right, it looks like a museum. Not being able to find the front door might be a reason to avoid it. Oh, and stairs with low risers are made for very old people.
