Oh, 107 days…..?
Your Secret Service code name is Pioneer. You are the first woman in history to be elected vice president of the United States. On July 21, 2024, your running mate, Joe Biden, announces that he will not be seeking reelection. The presidential election will occur on November 5, 2024.You have 107 days.
When @kamalaharris popped up on @thelateshow I gasped. I have not recovered from the news that Steve's late night show has been canceled by Paramount to please Cheeto. And then Kamala pops up and gives the country a little reality check. Because we are in the middle of a severely fucked up situation. All because people could not bring themselves to vote for a woman who was given the craziest purity tests this side of Hillary Clinton.
Oh, BTW, those who think the Dems are not doing enough, should follow her advice: don't capitulate. So go ahead and watch this if you have not, (and check that book out!) because the Dems are STILL working...
XOXO
P. S. If you caught this live or on YouTube, were you as gagged as I was?
HuntleyBiGuy:
ReplyDeleteI did see this last week. It’s disgusting what happened then, and what has happened since. We cannot be complacent. We must move forward with a YOUNGER slate of candidates with new ideas and who listen to the people. Resist and resolve to win!
XOXO 👨🏼❤️💋👨🏽
HuntleyBiGuy:
DeleteAnd did you see the democratic TEXAS state legislators have evacuated to Illinois to deny the repugs a quorum on their remap vote? They’ll try some other fuckery to push it through.
And maybe just do what they say for once, for the people they represent. There's a novelty. I so tired of politicians running on the same issues, like blackmailing us for votes, then to not do any of the basics we need, passed. I think they forget they WORK FOR US!
DeleteIt is disgusting.
DeleteThere is no age limit for the candidates, though (look at Cheeto at 79 and The Turtle at 109) so that's a hurdle. Also, what the Dems in Texas did may not be a long term solution (they are outnumbered, already gerrymandered) but it is something. Dems actually do things, people just ask for more and more purity tests while the Repugs get away with murder.
XOXO
I hope they are. Because all I see is disarray and licking of wounds. I hope with exception of Pete who is far more qualified than anyone, I want to see a new group, new blood and no old fogies running in the next election for president. I still worry. And right now I'm not impressed with anyone in the US. I can count the politicians I have trust in on four fingers.
ReplyDeleteAnd on a side note, I'm hoping queen Ru pulls Drag Race from the now bigoted Parmount network and just airs all seasons on VHI...her home where she started and made her coin. If she stays on her own accord she might face backlash, unless of course they give her the sashay away. I mean drag queens for pete sakes. What will the head network think???
I was thinking the same thing about Ru.
DeleteShe's good at getting people to vote let's see her take a stand.
HuntleyBiGuy:
DeleteUnfortunately VH1 is part of the MTV networks, which are part of Paramount (for now).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VH1
Omg!!!!! Does one company own every damn network??? I had no idea, and now I am very troubled to watch anything on any of those networks owned by bigots! I guess I will do what they did in the old days...write letters and read. I don't watch all that much tv anyhow.
DeleteThe 'new blood' is considered 'too far left' by this country, babes.
DeleteThe United States is above all, a consumerist, capitalist society. People who do not struggle in any way are spoiled and entitled and they vote with their wallet. There's some people who could be considered (Newsom, Shapiro, Pete) but they all have their cons according to people. There's no pleasing this country.
And Ru is an executive producer, it's not like she owns the franchise. She cannot up and leave a very lucrative contract. They'd sue her into poverty. And that, for example is another instance of capitalism running rampant: a corporation that owns a ton of the media we consume...
XOXO
That’s why anti monopoly laws should be enforced. Too much in too few hands leads to abuse and disservice.
Delete-Rj
Correct!
DeleteThat's also why Colbert talking about the bribe to approve the merger was penalized.
XOXO
I teared up at the ovation.
ReplyDeleteBut she's right ... don't give up. Resist. Fight, Speak up. Vote.
Demand the Democrats do what they say and say what they do.
xoxo
Same!
DeleteTo think that she could be the president now...
Anyway, giving up is not a choice. And most Dems do what they say they'd do (have you seen Jasmine Crockett and AOC and many more?) the problem is that the Repugs know they cannot win a fair election and they are fixing the system so they stay in power...
XOXO
Resist is an understatement. The party's and America's future is with younger people like David Hogg.
ReplyDeleteYep.
DeleteSadly, David was kicked out of the DNC after he came up with that plan to oust Dems ruled ineffective. The problem with the Dems is that they follow some archaic rules (giving to someone in their own state when they are vice-chairs) to avoid being seen as corrupt while the Repugs loot the country. it's a double edged sword.
XOXO
Big says,
ReplyDeleteOne thing that I've seen and heard over and over again about that election is from young people who either voted 3rd party or stayed home because the Dem Party was "corrupt" for allowing her to "steal" the nomination without a Primary. It frosts my ass when I hear that. ****The delegates they chose voted.**** Still, people say it proved the Dem Party (DNC) was corrupt to the core.
The DNC is in total disarray. They're sitting on their hands while the GOP runs roughshod, the SCOTUS rules against the people, and corporations and law firms capitulate and bend the knee.
XOXO
I agree Pat....all the younger people I know, are soooo third party. One friend's brother, who just became eligible to vote said he thinks both parties are terrible examples and voted Green. While, thankfully for the Dem Party I liked Harris, I can also see the other side of the coin... I am also like don't be telling me I will have one candidate I didn't choose crammed down my throat to vote for and you'll like it. I like when we have a selection of choice people to pick from in a primary. BUT people must also understand that this was a rare instance...the party only had so much time to campaign and get running.
DeleteI can also attest to your last comment. My ex's friend is in DNC in DC and said it's still a cluster fuck. I'm like, OMG , don't tell me this. LOL!
They are delusional.
DeleteThere's no 'third party' in the United States with pull enough to do anything. Sad but true. The Dem party is not 'corrupt', there's no bothsiding this. The two parties are not the same. They chose inertia or apathy instead of voting for the best candidate. That example they gave is exactly what Kamala is talking about in her book. Pity that Americans have no idea how their political system works.
There was no selection of people to choose from. They had one hundred days to come up with a candidate. And they did. And the candidate was good (superior, compared to Cheeto). And still people either voted for fucking Jill Stein or did not vote. And here we are.
XOXO
I agree Six. Also another point...people in big cities have the luxury to vote and make it count for third parties, but the rest of the country who vote third party, like you said, won't do a thing to move the needle. I just think is so sad that a third party can't make it, and that voters are so stuck in their ways, don't do the research on candidates, or only voted for who they are told to vote for whether the person is good or not. I some days still can't believe Harris didn't win. It was like Day/night. And I sadly don't think she will run again. But you never know.
DeleteShe’s so right. And it ain’t over til the fat guy goes to Sing Sing.
ReplyDeleteShe was right then and she's right now.
DeleteAnd I want the fat guy to keel over with a stroke.
XOXO
What could have been, now we’re stuck with a despot and his regime of rabid hyenas and jackals thanks to our fickle voters. The likes of insanity in DC I have never seen in all my years of living here.
DeleteRex in DC
It's INSANE.
DeleteThe boldface corruption. The absolute stupidity. The banal asshattery. The MAGAts in a nutshell.
XOXO
